6 pm yesterday...Sells dies

2 am .... CowboysZone bot catches the story

7 am ... I make the first human post on his death at CZ. Two replies

11 am .... Finally wake up and make dozens of replies in a different thread

Just illustrating that subconsciously this does not bother CZ enough. Yes, I think some have the same mentality as the crowd urging that guy to shoot....serious. They ranted all year long about DeflateGate simply to get an edge over any opponent...could not care less about getting Hardy with his issues.

SADLY, MANY COWBOYS FANS ARE MORALLY BANKRUPT AND DONT GIVE A DAMN ABOUT DECENCY OR ETHICS....YOU JUST SAW IT.

Used to be they were good sports. No more.

Enjoy your Miller Life royalties, Jerruh.

1) Cameras and security in the PARKING LOT. They are part of the property. Any time you have people drinking for hours on your business property, you have an obligation to secure the premises.

2) Too many seats is a DESIGN/PLANNING issue. The fact that ,as you describe, they've been cited multiple times for that makes it even more eggregious.

Mere details are not for big-picture guys like Jerruh.

Shmessy- Here is some information for you to chew on.

1) The Cowboys do not own AT&T Stadium or the Parking lots surrounding the Stadium. They are leased from the City of Arlington to the tune of over $1M a year. And the City of Arlington gets 10% of the gate receipts from every NFL game in addition to that $1M. Furthermore, there are cameras outside the Stadium. They cover the stadium entrances.

Please show me pictures of ANY other venue that has security cameras in their parking lots. There aren't any at Qualcomm. There aren't any at the Panthers stadium. Pretty sure there aren't any at Reliant. It's been a few years since I was at Gillette, but they didn't have any when I was there last.

I'm fairly certain that like other venues, they have a "No liability" clause that protects them from things that happen in the parking lots..

2) How is it egregious of Jerry Jones that the VENUE has been cited numerous times for too much seating? The only time it's been his issue was the SuperBowl. Again, because the City of Arlington owns the Stadium..

If this happened in Foxboro this board and world would explode.

A tragedy.
What possesses a man to kill another man in cold blood like this?
Sorry to his family and the life he would have had. Died trying to defend another. Sounds like a very good man was killed by a very bad man.

Stadium security will not be changed?! No security changes planned in response to AT&T Stadium shooting

We don't need a repeat

Charges now upgraded to murder AT&T Stadium shooting suspect charged with murder

A little late to the thread, but figured I'd pass along a few comments. We were down in Dallas for the game, and drove/walked past that lot on they way into the stadium, and then after the game walked by lots on the other corner of the street shown in the video (coming back from unsuccessfully trying to scalp tickets to the Rangers-Blue Jays playoff game that started soon after the football game ended. Needless to say there were quite a lot of people walking around that time (close to 100k leaving the football game and 50k going to the baseball game). Anyway, I've been to Foxboro, Buffalo and Miami tailgates and never saw anything like I saw in Dallas. The lots opened at 10:00 (before a 3:25 CST) kick-off and we showed up about 9:50, and there were already full-blown tailgates in progress on the grass areas between the actual lots and the road. It seems like that was sort of a no-mans land, un-regulated as far as I could tell. The set-ups were wild, tents will big spreads of food and drinks, but the real surprise was the sound systems, speakers you would see at a wedding reception or something, playing ear-splitting rap music...all down the row of tents, one after another, so loud it looked like no one was able to actually talk to each other. I wouldn't be surprised if the shooter never even went into the game, and could have been drinking for 8+ hours by the time the fight actually occurred. I think more of the blame goes to the city and local cops then to Jerry and Cowboys themselves, it seems like it was acceptable behavior to just pull up and tailgate on public property by the road.

From the article:
The shooting suspect, Marvin Rodriguez, 28, was in the AT&T Stadium parking lot but didn’t have a ticket for the game against the New England Patriots.

police said Rodriguez was involved in two fights before he shot Sells once in the neck.

BTW, it's interesting that the news that people around the fight were supposedly egging Rodriguez to shoot Sells has all but disappeared.

This story shouldn't be allow to die. It's been over a week since the shooting and I still don't know any of the answers I asked about a week ago.

Was Salles a Patriot fan?

What was the fight about?

Were there fans egging on the shooter?

Are killings at public areas so commonplace in Dallas that the news media can't summon up the resources to ask and find out the answers to THESE 3 simple questions?????

PFK - You should read the articles that have been posted because they do answer some of your questions.
His name was Ricky Sells. He was a Cowboys fan. He was trying to break up the fight that was started over a woman.

Sells was not the person whom Rodriguez held the gun to his head. That was a guy by the name of Lester Peters.

AT&T Stadium shooting suspect charged with murder

Before Sells was shot, police said, Rodriguez had held a gun to the head of Lester Peters of Lufkin. Rodriguez let Peters go but got involved in a second fight a minute later and shot Sells. Officers were called to the scene as a brawl was breaking out between tailgaters just minutes before stadium parking lots closed.

Thank you DB for getting me that info. I read the last 2 pages of the thread which included my original post on this topic and I never saw that information.

It is horrible to think that this man was killed, but I feel a bit of comfort knowing that it is not open season on Pats fans in certain areas of the country. Or at least Roger Goodell hasn't made it a capital offense as yet.

So the final question remains. Has the rumors that Rodriguez was egged on by the crowd been confirmed or denied?

That's a good question.. Since that was originally reported, nothing has been said about it that I know of..

EDIT: I reached out to Mr. Ryan Osborne who was the author of the article that I copied. He happens to be a co-worker of Clarence Hill, Jr. the guy who tweeted the eye witness report.. We'll see if I get a response.. If I do, I will most definitely pass it along..

I heard back from Mr. Osborne today. They have tried to confirm the reports from Mr. Hill and have not been able to find the witness that spoke with Mr. Hill. They have also not been able to confirm the cause of the fights.. They are continuing to look, but they may not get anything until they get a copy of the arrest warrant.
