OT: Interesting read on Manning

Admire is too strong a word for me; respect is a good one. I used to hate Peytie Pie, as I like to call him, in the early days of the Pats/Manning rivalry. I think a lot of it had to do with how he was annointed as the second coming of Jesus coming into the league, all his obnoxious commercials, etc. when he would beat up on the weak teams and fall to the strong. Ironically, after he won his one ring and, of all things, appeared on SNL and was hysterical, the hatred diminished for me. He has been a great and worthy rival and has been a part of some great games against the Pats (most of which he's lost, of course). I hope he has a good year and avoids hurting himself more, if this is his last year, except, of course, when it comes to playing the Pats and getting in our way on the drive to SB 50.

Without Manning there would be no fourth and two. Still annoyed Pats lost that game, but it was a great one. But the Ty Law getting in his head games were more satisfying

Watching Denver last night then the Pats today, I couldn't help but notice, yet again and even more poignantly, how incredible it is that these two are only a year apart.

Brady throws the ball like a 30-year-old, Peyton like a 50-year-old. He got another receiver rung up hard last night.

It is scary that if you take Manning out of the shotgun and ask him to turn his back to the defense even for half a second and he turns into Chad Pennington.
Can't agree with this. He isn't nearly as good as Pennington was.

He reportedly received a day off last Wednesday, which ostensibly is part of a larger plan to control his "pitch count." The longevity of the season will be pernicious, and the cold weather will be debilitating. I cannot imagine his arm's condition in week 17, the playoffs, and icy/cold conditions. That team needs to learn how to win on the ground, with defense, and with ST--not later, but in the upcoming weeks.

Even with post-season home games, the night-time weather in Denver can be in the 20's or below. Home-field advantage?
