There's not a lot to get excited about in Buffalo, but honestly, the Bills are one of those things.
I know, that sounds terrible and so sad.
But I'd believe the noise level there because I've been there, and it is loud.
Partly the fans have nothing else to cheer for in life.
Partly because it's an older stadium that's been around for a while.
I've noticed in Toronto (and heard similar in many other cities) that new stadiums kill crowd noise. Different theories abound, but the one that makes a lot of sense is that they price out the die-hards, the hardcore fans. Personal Seat Licenses, the latest money grab by owners with flashy new stadiums, definitely drive out the loyal and loudest fans who have been around for decades, but can no longer afford to go, or have to move waaaaaaaaaaaaay back.
A lot of Bills fans I've met (happens a lot more than I'd like because I live close by) have amazingly good seats for cheap. None of them make a ton of money, yet they have seats 8 rows back because they bought them decades ago. The average ticket in NE is over $450, while the average ticket in Buffalo is $180. You get a different crowd I guess.
In Toronto, the old Maple Leaf Gardens used to get really loud. Now the ACC is much quieter, with fans getting sushi instead of watching the games. Then again, Leafs fans don't have much to cheer about. Good thing I don't give a **** about hockey.
