@RapSheet: Sources: The Cam Newton mega-extension being finalized with the #Panthers right now is expected to be 5 years, more than $100M.

Pretty sure this signing would make Brady the 18th highest paid QB on a per year basis.

wow, I can't even imagine that kind of money

This would be a good time for the Patriots to reduce Brady's contract to vet minimum for 2015 and guarantee the difference in 2018.

F.ck you Roger

I can't wait for Luck and Wilson's extensions. Massive $$$$ that will force their teams to shed talent. A quality QB on a rookie contract is such an advantage ....but all good things must come to an end.

It is important to see if this is a "real" contract, or one where the team can basically go year-to-year without a huge amount of dead money after a few seasons. Andy Dalton and Colin Kaepernick signed big money deals, on the surface, that are basically pay as you go.

Ben Roethlisberger just signed a big money deal that was a really big commitment by the Steelers, a real long-term contract, and it put the Giants in a bind with Eli Manning and also the Chargers with Philip Rivers.

If the Panthers really opened the vault for Cam, it will impact the Seahawks and Colts as both of their QBs should expect more money than Cam Newton. The Colts have a 5th year option for 2016 on Luck. The Seahawks only recourse with Wilson is the franchise tag for 2016.

This is where I don't understand the hate or lack of appreciation for Brady, especially from fans. 18th highest paid QB just won a superowl against a great defense and all some people are saying is he is old and should be replaced by the backup.

The Panthers are getting raped in that deal.

@RapSheet: My understanding on the imminent Cam Newton 5-year, more than $100M extension is full guarantees are very real. We wait for firm numbers

Wow, we'll wait and see, but the Seahawks may get screwed by this deal. Excellent.

Tom Brady gave up a lot of money to get his fourth because he wants to win. He wants to go down as the best quarterback in the history of football. And regardless of all the "gates" he is one Sb win away from having his name said by itself when people talk about and debate the best qb's. Man I hope he wins it again next year. As for Cam it seems like a lot of owners will pay a "good" QB a lot because it's all about filling the stadiums

That's a lot, but I actually think he is one of the better quarterbacks in the league. I've watched quite a few Panther games and he sees the field extremely well but his accuracy is still off. He consistently sails his passes but that may not be a problem with their recent additions of oversized receivers.

Living in Panther territory, I get to see a lot of Panther games. Newton's lack of fundamentals as far as footwork drives me crazy, but he's still a good QB (middle of the pack) with ability to occasionally make the special plays. This is what the market is today because if you have an average of better QB, you can't afford to let him go.

As exciting as it is to see teams go to cap hell for marginal qb talent, remember there is no guarantee our next qb won't be money hungry.

Having one of the greatest of all time who also happens to be ok being paid like a mediocre qb probably isn't something we should be taking for granted

Good point... I wonder what Garoppolo will do if Brady retires at the end of his current deal and the team wants to transition, as he would need a new deal. The team could franchise tag him for a year, but it would be really expensive to do so. Hopefully 4 years under Brady will teach him the value of taking less to win more. Being hyper successful = more publicity = more endorsements = way more money than the difference between a team-friendly deal and a max deal.

As for Cam, I do think he's a top 16 QB and shows flashes of more at times. They played well last year despite him being in a pretty bad car accident and suffering through that. I don't think he necessarily deserves such huge money, but that's the cost of doing business when your team isn't that great.

Lmfao, 20 million a year! Another idiotic front office to go along with all the others. I think the Seahawks are the only intelligent front office with the rumour they don't want to pay Russell Wilson 20 million whether that's true or not.

Seattle has a history of taking their time and passing.

Lol, what a burn!

Big cap jump coming = This is not really a particularly big deal (by 'deal' I mean issue, not contract).
