Rich Hill: Eleven Teams, Five Owners, Four Coaches, Two Executives support Roger Goodell's Penalties

Giants? Hmm. Not sure on that one. I seem to recall hearing that the Kraft's and Mara's are fairly close. Plus why would they hate us? They seem to always beat us lol.
They can be as close as they like. According to this article, they're supporting Goodell.

How do 11 teams support Goodell's punishment but only 5 owners? If 5 owners are for the punishment that means 5 teams are for it. Okay, maybe 6 teams if Green Bay is one of them. A team wouldn't be for it if their owner was neutral or favored our position.

And who cares what other players, coaches and league and team execs think? Irrelevant in the extreme.

BTW, all those in favor of Goodell's punishment are still in the minority. The majority may not all be with us. But they're not against us in this either.

I'm guessing 5 owners + 4 coaches + 2 execs = 11. I don't have an official NFL calculator so it might not be accurate. +- 2 margin of error. :)

I can buy into this theory. As others have mentioned, the owners have no reason to make a stand until a great deal of negative light is cast upon the league. "If" this negative light is eventually cast upon the league in a court of law, then support will start to dwindle. Until that happens, I don't understand why anyone would think that there would be more than 25 percent of the votes (at best) that would want to remove Goodell from office. In order to do so, one has to assume that they believe an all out conspiracy is occurring, and I don't believe that is currently the case.

Goodell has made everyone involved with the NFL lots of money, while increasing popularity and global interest. Why would the majority of the owners give a **** about the Patriots and their alleged (repeat) cheating punishment? They may have issues with wanting to change some of the specifics regarding the NFL's justice system, but that doesn't mean that they wish to remove their golden goose at the present time, either.

Hey, at least you actually had the intelligence to include a -+2 margin of error.

Like I said. I respect Kraft. But he's made his share of mistakes too .... the biggest of which was publically coming out in support of Goodell, when everyone in his circle advised against it

Who in his circle advised against it?

.....So why does Kraft not want to sue the NFL? Why is he even back-channeling with the NFL?

According to Rich Hill, several teams, coaches, owners, and executives have all have come out in support of Roger Goodell - essentially throwing Kraft underneath the bus.

Kraft is supposedly one of the wealthiest and most respected owners in the League. Yet it is clear that most of the NFL does not want his team to thrive and are doing everything in their power to undercut the legacy of the Patriots.

Look, I admire Bob Kraft, but I don't understand why he's in negotiation talks at a time like this. There's absolutely nothing to be gained with these people.

Mr. Kraft. Let me make something clear to you: The NFL has abandoned you. Your colleagues have abandoned you. And your friends are more than fine with allowing your team to suffer.

Whether you like it or not, you are no longer part of the establishment you've worked to build. So I beg you Sir, take this battle to court, and forget about your so-called "friends." Your number 1 priority should be with your fans and the team, who are counting on you to make the right decision!
I don't get it. 11 teams is less than one third.

Correct or not, framegate has been an eye opener for me - I sincerely had no idea people could be naive/stupid on this scale, or alternatively that people would be so willing to abandon even the most minimal tenets of morality (while willing to concurrently look like an uninformed moron) out of jealousy.

Who is Rich Hill and what article are you referring to??

Before everyone jumps into this pool, do you think that Mr. Kraft will forevermore want to be linked to Al Davis and Donald Sterling, the two previous folks who sued their leagues?? That is bottomfeeding company...

Has everyone actually read this article? This a poorly researched story that was written with the sole intent to fan the flames of deflategate and get clicks from the fan base. All the author did was a Google search on all the Team/owner comments since last January. And as we all know, the NFL purposely left the Patriots dangling in the wind (with false information) until just recently, allowing the opinions of others to be influenced accordingly. The truth (WellsReportContext) has only been circulating for about a week now...the Wells report looks more fragile by the day...and the underhanded tactics by the League office are now clear for all to see.

I don't think a Twitter quote from the wife of the Jets owner, or anything Don Shula says, is worth citing in a professionally researched article. I don't think Rex Ryan's quote qualifies as being "firmly against" and the other people certainly have their own agendas (Falcons/Browns recently penalized themselves....Elway diminishing TB's GOAT status). And I think those quotes concerning Goodell could easily qualify as "faint praise".

Let's interview the same folks in another week or two, and see what they have to say then. I bet it sounds a lot different.

Eleven teams is far less than 50%....so that must mean 21 teams support Kraft, right?

There are 32 teams.....

Two things:
One, we really can't pay much attention to what Kraft or any of the owners say in public at this time. Each of them has an "audience" of 31. What they say directly to each other is all that counts. The rest can be anything from misdirection to making nice with a reporter so the reporter will owe you a favor or, occasionally, might be the "truth."

Two, this isn't about "character," but it's about competence. Kraft may well have misjudged Goodell's competence to handle this big a job. But the bottom line is that anything he says about him in public, unless he repeats it behind the scenes, is close to irrelevant unless and until he takes him to court.

Robert Kraft just doesn't impress me as the Patriots owner at all. The Patriots Name, brand is being and has been tarnished across the country, and he sits there and does nothing. Smh.

If the Revis tampering didn't show him how the NFL doesn't support him in anything, nothing will.

I was okay with the League suspending the Patriots if they broke the rules, but I'm beginning to change my mind on that. The League definitely does hate the Patriots.

What makes me laugh is other NFL teams calling us cheaters while they have done the same thing. Every NFL team has cheated.

I hope when other teams do get in trouble including Roger Goodell, Robert Kraft says nothing. Don't show them any support at all.

bob kraft cares more about his reputation with the other owners than anything else.

Crazy Al Davis was...well, crazy, but he didn't care. he just went rogue on the NFL. this is what kraft shoild do but won't.

Technically 20. 32 - 11 - us.

So 20 teams are waiting to see which way makes them more money. ;)

WOW. I truly hope you're one of those fans born in the mid 90's or something who have absolutely no clue what the Patriots brand was before the Kraft family purchased the team. If there is anyone who wants to protect it, it's RK. He is the most responsible for turning a laughingstock franchise into one that has been the most successful during the time of his ownership.

"doesn't impress me" - now that's worthy of a Smh.

Yeah just like how Kraft protected the patriots reputation during spygate. Take a look on Twitter, ESPN etc to see almost everyone considers the Patriots Cheaters. I'm done here. Nothing good is going to come out of this discussion based on your tone.

Who do we suppose those 11 teams are?
  1. Putrid Slime
  2. El Feeto El Buffalo
  3. Goldfish
  4. Horsefaced Neckbeards
  5. Ray Lewis White Suits
  6. We Juiced to a Dynasty in the 70's
  7. Omaha Omaha Foreheads
  8. Goober Juniors
That leaves another three.
Must include....The Mistake by the Lake
