I'm trying to look at his without my homer glasses on. It seems like the media are in a feeding frenzy over McNally referring to himself as "the deflater" as a term to his losing weight. they are saying it's not plausable and mocking the Patriots report because of that.

I guess they are just too lazy to read the text messages in the context of what he a Jaz were talking about at the time.

So here it is:
12:21:46: JM “Whats up dorito dink”
12:22:53: JJ “Nada”
12:22:53: JM “Whens the pong party….im on fire”
12:23:10: JJ “Omg”
12:23:34: JM “Bring it”
16:29:48: JM “You still with your women”
16:29:59: JJ “Yup”
16:33:21: JM “You must have her [omitted out of respect to Mrs. Jastremski]”
16:34:39: JM “You must have a picture of her [omitted out of respect to Mrs. Jastremski]”
16:36:31: JJ “Omg”
16:37:16: JM “You working”
16:37:53 JJ “Yup”
16:39:40 JM “Nice dude…jimmy needs some kicks….lets
make a deal…come on help the deflator”

[After Mr. Jastremski does not respond for several minutes, Mr. McNally sends a follow-up text.]
16:47:15 JM “Chill buddy im just f****n with you….im not going
to espn….yet”

You can clearly see that they were talking about McNally kicking a Doritos habit in order to lose weight. It really is sad that the sports talk media is so childish and lazy that they cannot read or understand the entire text that went on and the context of the text. I guess it just serves their purpose to find something to discredit the entire patriots report by dwelling on one that one little item.

There's no way I'm looking at that as a neutral observer and not thinking he's asking for gifts in exchange for deflating footballs. I wish I could outrun my common sense on that, but I can't. The jacket comment is the only text that helps.

That is the weakest point of our case, no doubt. The reference to going to ESPN is particularly strange. We shouldn't act like there is nothing of concern that Wells brought up. There is. But he also didn't consider alternate explanations, especially of the science. He was a prejudiced hack, who found basically one text message exchange that could be interpreted as supporting his pet theory.

I learned yesterday that dorito dink is a slang expression and has nothing to do with actually kicking a Dorito habit. What this does show is that these two, especially McNally, talk in joking nonsense almost all the time. Trying to make sense of the term deflator as direct evidence of anything is like saying that JJ is a sexual deviant because he called him a dorito dink.

I hate how everything reasonable that the rebuttal has brought up is just waved away by the one "deflator" line by the media

It's in May.

What's the quid pro quo?

Give me shoes now so I'll deflate in September?

These guys were also joking about the fact that Brady forgot or didn't bother to gift McNally shoes, like he did the fulltime staff. It was a running joke that Brady dissed him.

The whole way the boston sports media is treating this annoys the crap out of me.
Local media is worse than national media, no doubt about it.

As a neutral observer, I don't really know what they're talking about. It's not exactly self-explanatory and it's open to interpretation depending on your bias.

"Deflator" became of buzzword because of the way the media was covering the case. When Wells saw this, he creamed his underoos and centered the case around it because he really didn't have anything substantial and he knew he had public opinion that was bias against the Patriots.

Goodell naturally treated it like it was an admission of guilt.

No doubt the May aspect helps

The media love this because it would sound ridiculous to not only the haters but also the casuale fan. And since the rest of the rebuttal is powerful and hard to refute they fixat on the 'deflator' comments.

Maybe if this whole ordeal was not about deflating footballs I may buy that explanation.

Problem is this is about deflating footballs. The patriots response, under these circumstances, is laughable.

So all of jj's answer are 1 Word, omg or yup, He is busy !!! The gap between msgs maybe be normal, or it may be left out cause it didnt suit Wells, Cause if they were deleted by jj and jm why didnt they delete espn and deflator ?

Just ignore them...they're all either a bunch of idiots trying to act like smart people, or smart people trying to behave like idiots

dorito dink

The problem I have is that people in the media refuse to even entertain the possibility that "deflator" was not a term used the way they think it was used. They don't even try to investigate whether it could be true or not.

Instead they just mock.

Did you ever see the movie pain and gain? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1980209/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_11
based on true story biggest idiots in the World, If not based on true story I would never believe anything in that movie. And yes we know true story movies usually have many differences from Real.

The thing I cannot get past is that this line here:
JM “Chill buddy im just f****n with you….im not going to espn….yet”

implies there was a threat made in the previous line. I cannot read that line any other way. If that is the case, where is the threat here?
JM “Nice dude…jimmy needs some kicks….lets make a deal…come on help the deflator”

In that line we must surmise that there is a reason to go to ESPN that would be upsetting to the recepient. This was not covered in the rebuttal that I'm aware of. And it is that fact that doesn't allow me to get past this.

Nevertheless, it is proof of nothing. Just speculation. I think that is the point of Brady's defense. Nothing is proven, even if there is this little cryptic text message from back in May.

So, that text message should be used as a major basis to suspend the GOAT for 4 games and take away a 1st round draft choice and a 4th round draft choice, not to mention a $1million fine???
