Patriots Legal Counsel Rebuttal of Wells Report

I'm not down there now. I didn't take much grief for Spygate, though. It might be different for others, as I'm a pretty big guy. I'll tag @KontradictioN to see if he wants to share what he's dealing with lately.

I'm convinced that the warm weather states have a lot of different fans representing fanbases, so it's likely not going to be quite as bad in FL or CA (just my opinion).

There's also the fact that they have less stress, more to do with their time which often involves outside activities, and no real "dominant" teams that bandwagoners can hop on and back.

That's part of it. There's also the fact that the Northeastern U.S. is home to more ass hats per square mile than anywhere else in the world

It is brutal, I live in Illinois and the crap I get is just insane! Not all are horrible but some truly act like i have no right to be a fan because their "cheaters". But you know what I don't give a crap , I still proudly wear my pats gear and still have pats flag up at work and it will stay there.

If that's you in the pic, you can get away with it a bit more since you're female.

Being male and living in a rival city is no way to go if you want to wear your Pats gear, especially at the moment. Some may feel differently, but I liken it to wearing a bright orange suit. It's only going to draw negative attention to yourself. The negatives outweigh the positives for me, at least at the moment. Prior to this whole thing in January, I'd wear my Pats stuff all over Pittsburgh without hesitation.

Have to disagree with you a little on that one. My daughter was wearing her Red Sox cap when we went to Ellis island and the security guard told her , in a light hearted way, that she wasn't allowed on the boat because of her hat. It was funny but he didn't hold back on a 9 year old girl. haha

I lived in Bergen county NJ for a few years back in 2004-2007. When the 2004 ALCS was going on the guys in the shop decorated the entire maintenance room with Yankee paraphernalia. The only thing I posted on the door of the room was the picture of Veritek jacking up Arod on the 1st base line. When the Sox were down 0-3 it was brutal. It was none stop BS all day long. But a day after game 7, I arrived at work to find the only thing left in the office that was baseball related was my poster of Veritek Jacking up Arod. hahaha

My point is that there is a Sports God and you just have to believe. haha
Man I like the way you think! And you're totally right. No sports fans have had more luck than us New Englanders over the last 15 years. With the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins winning nine titles and the Revolution coming damn close like five times, we're actually really spoiled, and I'll take the occasional witch hunt or wheel chair joke as part of that deal!

I'll be in Indy this weekend wearing my Pats gear and in Pittsburgh next weekend. Never a problem down on the Strip.

A couple of weeks ago, a woman in the cookware store next to Prestogeorge talked about six rings.

We all laughed when I said I will be back in 3 years after number 7.

You would be surprised the patriots hate runs deep, you would swear the patriots did something to them personally. Lol but your right I'm sure you have it worse than me so I feel for you guys. Pretty sad when you can't just root for your team and wear their gear without having to deal with crap.

I live in Queens, but my wife used to work in the Bronx. There are a surprisingly large number of Red Sox fans living up there now and showing off the B! Obviously they're a minority, but a much larger and more pronounced one than I would have expected when you consider it's the home of Yankee Stadium. Maybe it's because David Ortiz is pretty popular with the Dominican population there.

Never has anything truer been said. I moved out to the Pacific Northwest for a couple years for work, and it took me months to adjust to strangers being generally friendly for the first time in my life.

I think the biggest mistake the explanations for the texts made is trying to move it outside the context of football prep. It would have been easier to argue that deflating and inflating footballs is part of their job. The focus should be on the lack of evidence that there was intent to deflate below the 12.5 limit. There is no evidence to support any kind of scheme to operate outside of the limit.

But you're assuming that they were trying to devise an explanation to cover their ass....maybe they were just telling the truth?

FWIW, I live in NOVA a few miles outside of DC. Had running friendly arguments with co-workers all week, wearing a Pats cap whenever I'm out, but not a lot of Pats hate here. A few comments, but pretty tame. With the Skins so down, I guess fans can't really work up the muster to feel victimized by this farce. The only thing that seemed to fire up the locals were Harry Reid's comments on the Senate floor.

Interesting but ultimately meaningless. Critics will claim that McNally is referring to how the game is going poorly for the Pats, and specifically the offense, and is jokingly telling Jast that he should deflate the balls to help out. Jokingly in the sense that McNally knows it can't be done at this point but it points to them having a knowing practice of deflating balls.

I'm not saying I believe that. But that is what people will say.

I'm with most on here that wish their was a better explanation for deflator comment. But with that said can it just actually be that's what the patriots were told when they asked the guys so just published the truth, whether it sounds far fetched to some or not why lie if that's what they were told? I will say though when they posted the other texts around those texts, it did make it seem possible, however the media is choosing just to talk about the one line of losing weight. Out to nail the pats at first sounded a little out there to me but not anymore. Just 1 small example i was listening to ESPN radio (I know stupid) but they were interviewing Michael Irvin and as soon as he started pointing out flaws in wells report etc they literally broke straight to a commercial, in the middle of him talking, I never got to hear what all he said. And he tried talking when they came back on and they said they had to wrap it up. It's really sickening. Jealousy breeds major hate.

Sounds like something brady's lawyers would love to know.

Nobody in Jacksonville gave a damn when I was down there. They'd be happy to win a preseason game 30-28 after the starters gave up a 17 nil lead and the scrubs fought back for the win. Of my coworkers, the favorite player was the kicker...and this was when MJD was still good.

While you're right that there will be naysayers, that game was AT Green Bay---meaning that it was impossible for the balls to even be in our possession to do so. The home team does that stuff.

As a matter of fact, Bird wasn't even there, and that's why.

THAT'S what I want to know.

If both Jastremski and McNally gave that definition to Wells, why did Wells completely ignore that in his report.

He could have written, "they claimed that it meant this, but it seems far-fetched".

Instead he redacted it from the report altogether.

If you read the Patriots response, it's obvious that Wells selectively chose what was in the report throughout the entire report. The report rarely if ever presents evidence contradicting the (desired) conclusion despite the fact that contradictory evidence existed everywhere (including all the testimony they received).

Yes but they will claim that he was making a joke based on what they do at during home games.
