Bill must be confident he can get Cardona this season if he's not taking the time to develop Ott. Wonder if they have any corresponding roster moves in mind.

Could be that he doesn't expect Ott to get many other takers, and worst case scenario they lose him and keep Aiken (who while not great was still the LS on a Super Bowl winning team).

Ott, eh? Do they think they can get Cardona out of his 24 months of service?

Fans get all excited during the draft ...

It's also future pink slip sign for others ...

That's what makes the NFL the best sport ... few lazy players on a large guaranteed contract.

They are always playing for their future $$$.

I guess Danny Aiken is truly a "shadow roster" member at this point.

Why the f... BB drafted a LS in the 5th round that can't play for 2 years? This has to be some trolling it's the only explanation. I remember once when Andy Reid was in Philly they traded late round picks between each other moving up/down 1 spot just for fun.

I'd even count three...IMO Grissom is a Jamie Collins type.
Do you project him to a LB role? I really like him but he seems more DE than LB to me. Would prefer him going forward instead of backward, but he's probably athletic enough to do it all. I'm excited to find out!

Geneo Grissom 4.81 40 yard dash. Too slow for a 4-3 outside linebacker.

Jamie Collins 4.64 40 yard dash

Dont'a Hightower 4.68 40 yard dash

Jerod Mayo 4.54 40 yard dash

Xzavier ****son with a 4.74 40 yard dash is a better candidate at the linebacker position.

He's more like HT than Collins.

"Arrogance" you might say? Here comes twelve articles about BB disrespecting the Navy.

Tip, while the 40 times have some value, didn't that kid Funchess drop his 40 time down almost 3ths by learning some running techniques. Comparing the 3 cone and shuttle times might be better indicators.

The kind of athletic prowess that is being described to this kid by some scouts and "experts" I've heard since he's been drafted kind of belie that 4.8 speed. We will see soon enough I guess. July is coming fast.

Given Belichick's well known love for Navy, maybe Navy will love him back and release Cardona.

he was listed as an LB pre draft......the team blurs what is a DE and what is an OLB......with branch, brown, siliga, and johnson, the pats have the kind of girth that allows the other 5 in the front 7 to be anything

Yeah just a couple of other fans have noted this as well...
My guess is BB may know a little better than the rest us what kind of commitment Cardona has and how to get him out of it. (BB had dinner with Cardona prior to the draft)

I noticed in an article about Cardona that he had said that while most of his classmates had already received their orders on where they would be serving next, he had not received any yet.

Doubtful. I'm sure he knows something. Im sure they recruit players to the academies. A handful get selected in a decade most likely. Put him in reserves, which can be done and 6 months during offseason. Or just let him out of the commitment. You got the same football service (4 years) as most non rated military officers have to serve. Mighty be 6 actually with the academy I'm not sure.
