Florio: Jets File Tampering charges AGAINST Pats

BTW, it's clear based on Woody's earlier comments (as well as his comments on DeSean Jackson last year), as well as this attempt at filing, that nobody in the Jets organization has read about, or knows anything about the NFL's rules on tampering. They have no ****ing clue what is going on.

The problem is this. Woody tampers saying "I want Revis back", Woody claims Kraft tampered by saying "We wanted Revis back but it didn't work out." Goodell could be a big buttwipe and say the two cancel out.

HOWEVER, that then establishes "We wanted (player X) back but it didn't work out" as a form of tampering, and then every team who has signed a free agent this year that their previous team complimented on the way out, now has the right to file tampering charges against the former team.

I highly doubt the NFL wants that bloodbath. The only way it gets there is if Goodell is truly that stupid and/or a Jets homer. I can't see it happening IMO.

I agree completely. I think this is Woody pure and simple. I find it hard to believe his counsel would recommend he file a tampering charge for comments that are clearly not tampering but Woody had a tantrum and told them to just do it.

I think it's high time the owners do Woody like the NBA did Donald Sterling and vote him off the island.

Woody can't even make a Band Aid effective enough to keep the open sore that is the Jest organization contained... so I guess he doesn't even have that going for him and his pathetic team...;)

We have Revis for a 1 y deal for 12m, we won SB, and we probably got a #6th overall pick.
So IMO we won February and March.
A young stud for 5 cheap years. Dont get me wrong. Revis is elite but nobody is giving a 6th overall choice for him, i guess. Specially with his friendly contract (3/48 with 40 million fully guaranteed) .
Who´s happy?

You did, or someone did, I remember that thread. Can you link to the post?

This illustrates why lawyers tell their clients not to talk to the media (or anyone else) about a case. Any comment no matter how innocuous can give rise to a claim, and a claim, even it is not meritorious, can muddy the waters. Here, obviously what Kraft said was not tampering, as it was in the past tense. But it's time consuming to prove that fact. The Jets attorneys will insist that there was an implied offer beyond the literal language. All the Jets need to do is hassle and annoy Kraft enough so that he decides not to pursue the original claim of tampering.

The people here arguing that the Jets claim is not meritorious miss the legal strategy: the Jets don't need to prove their claim is valid, they just need to make it as annoying and time consuming as possible to defend.

There's no court of law. There's no cost for a defense. There's just a statement.

Sean Payton this morning on Travaris Cadet (from the Boston Herald):

"He’s a real smart player," Saints coach Sean Payton said this morning at the Arizona Biltmore. "He’s exceptional as a receiver. His ability to run routes other than just from the running back route tree, he is someone that can jump in the receiver line and run out-routes and run comebacks and actually has experience doing that. So when he came to us as an (undrafted) free agent in ’12, he came the first week or two and was in receiver meetings and receiver drills. He is exceptionally smart. He is a great teammate. He is someone we would have wanted to have back were we not able to sign C.J. Spiller. But I would say his hands and his football IQ are exceptional."

Jets Logic: TAMPERING!

No, we want the jets to continue to be a joke

Or maybe they DO understand, but just don't care. They want what they want, and Goodell has never punished them for anything before.

So, is there anyone out there who doesn't now fully understand why BB wanted no part of coaching for this ass hat?

Tom Coughlin just said the Giants were competitive for McCourty...

File it, Kraft!!!!!!
You know what's going to happen, they are going to lossen the tampering rules. Because idiots can't keep their mouths shut, and let's face it, they are also being entrapped by reporters with agendas (a dozen questions aimed at Kraft about Revis, including from that smug NY scumbag Myers). It's so easy for people to slip up. I thought Kraft did a good job, but felt Johnson truly did tamper and did a bad job.

No way.

Why spoil a good thing?

There is no need to loosen the tampering rules over this. The only team that tampered with their press conferences is the Jest.
