Dungy: NFL needs to restrict New England’s substitution game

In all seriousness, I hope the Pats' defensive guys are practicing for this in the Superbowl. You just know Seattle's going to drop it on us at least once with all the publicity it's gotten.

He says he would coach his team to fake injuries to buy time.

"Dungy said that, if he were coaching the Seahawks, he’d reluctantly tell the players to fake defensive injuries in the Super Bowl to counter New England’s tactic.

“It’s something I’m totally against doing but I would certainly tell my players to do it rather than have the NFL issue an apology the next day after we lost a Super Bowl,” Dungy said, adding he would do it only as a last resort."
If he wouldn't do it why suggest it? it's illegal. "Hey Pete, break the rules, I wouldn't but you go ahead" He's either senile or suspect, I'm sure it's a lot of both...

I am already worried the refs are not going to let us win. These kind of statements only make it harder for us.

I don't like people like this, for years he coached a Manning team that quickly snapped the ball to get free 5 yds for a defender running off the field and he is here talking about the defense not having time to identify who to cover? WTF? WTF?

God forbid the Patriots push the envelope of the sport. How do you think sports evolve over time? Its exciting. The media are complete idiots.

I think the funniest (or stupidest) part is him saying he's 'TOTALLY AGAINST IT' then immediately says he'd do it. Does he not know the meaning of against. Like he didnt even take 2 seconds and flip flopped.

Or the meaning of the word "Totally"

Good God....Superbowl needs to get here already I'm confident the Patriots are going to win and by a large margin. They keep poking the bear

It'd be the biggest flop in history (in any sport).

Hard to fake an injury when the play is over and getting into the next play. What are they going to do, have 2 people run into each other and have one fake the injury?

One thing that I have learned beyond a shadow of a doubt these last 2 weeks is that the NFL is filled with owners players and coaches who give the appearance of being strong he-men willing to take on any challenge and fight to the end, but the reality is far different from the appearance. Dungy, Harbaugh, Pagano, Irsay, Colts players, Ravens players and others too numerous to mention are actually whiny babies who have no sense of being able to lose with grace. The Patriots have pounded their scrawny asses for years and instead of admitting their shortcomings, they blame the officials, deflated balls (how about their own?), mythical cheating, bad luck, deliberate clock mismanagement, early morning fire alarms in their hotels, false down markers, Pilgrim ghosts and Salem witches. Is it ever their fault that they lose? No, they're always cheated and screwed out of what is rightfully theirs. They should be embarrassed and ashamed, but they never are. Wusses.

We're all lucky that these guys weren't around when innovators like Paul Brown were around. They would have lost their ****ing minds and demanded that the sport stay stuck in the 1960s.

Wouldn't that be hilarious?!? "Number 77 reports eligible" .....Sherman..."OOOOOWWWWW!! MY LEG"

Ball hasn't even been hiked. :p

HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Pete Caroll says its a smart and legal play but dungy has an issue with it...fix the officials.

Interesting comment by PC.

I actually have no problem with Dungy saying the league should make changes to the rule to accommodate defenses (if that is one thing he is saying). Maybe the Patriots have found a loophole that is best tightened up. Yet a head coach whining about a team using the fringe area of rules/regulations to gain an edge??? Pushing the envelope, adapting, improvising, keeping only one toe on the line while the rest of you is leaning heavily over the line is, IMHO, explicitly a head coach's responsibility.
Dungy should, if he had strength of character, praise BB for superb HCing/for his creative usage of the formation. Dungy should do this even if he also believes the league should tighten up the rules surrounding it, he should do this even if he dislikes BB.

"I would break the rules to prevent somebody from doing something that doesn't break the rules."

Yeah, Dungy- that really is cheating you scumbag.

No, it's just another form of

Does Harrison have a twitter account? Someone got to ask him how he deals with this crap continually

He is a defensive head coach. Provide a solution for the defense and prove your worth. Not ask to fake injuries or change rules. Same old colt ****. whine whine.
