Semi-OT: Brandon McManus, Stephen Gostkowski, and the 'yips'

While many of us have made fun of Brandon McManus' rocky introduction to the NFL, it's worth pointing out that his record at this point (8/12) is not really worse than Stephen Gostkowski's start back in 2006.

As a rookie, Gostkowski had one of his first eight kicks blocked, and missed two others; two of those three misses came on <40-yard kicks.

It's fortunate that Belichick took the long view, and didn't cut Gostkowski, as at least a couple of people on this board were clamoring for.

Of course, not that we realy have the Donkeys' best interests at heart, but it does raise an interesting question: if you were Elway, do you give McManus time to find his footing, so to speak, or do you just give up on him now?

Yeah and the highways are littered with discarded Kickers who can't kick field goals. Ghost was more highly regarded coming out of college, obviously though Denver hasn't cut McManus yet so they don't think they can bring in someone better.

Well, to be fair, our 2006 team was an overachieving mess that nearly made it to the superbowl, 2014 Broncos are a team in absolute "win now" mode, cutting Prater in favor of McManus is an absolute sin. Prater also wasn't demanding a new contract, they simply chose McManus over him coming off of suspension.
