Bit of a naughty challenge by Bedoya. Just a talking to though.

The game is getting a touch feisty, Beckerman booked for a poor challenge on Schweinsteiger.

Beckerman needs to be careful.

The fact that the US has had no real scoring chances is really making this a scary proposition, one more ghana goal and they are out.

Bit of desperation being shown by USA, it seems. Are they able to know that Ghana has equaled Portugal (are there scoreboards in the stadium)?

Bedoya and Jones have had a collision, both down injured.

Ronaldo puts Portugal 2-1 up.

Goal für Portugal, Yes.

Awesome, when they said the US game was irrelevant I turned to Ghana/Portugal and there was a jump ball on the goalline that deflected out to Ronaldo and he bagged it, never thought i would cheer for a Ronaldo goal.

Germany should probably be up multiple scores by now. They're playing with more urgency than the U.S. is.

Superb football from the US, Lahm blocks the shot. Corner - Dempsey nods over.

Full time, Germany 1-0 USA.

Still going in the Portugal game....

It's over in the other game - Portugal beat Ghana 2-1 and that means the US are through to the last 16 :)

Huge congratulations to the U.S.A. Yes, Kontra, the Germans were -- they are -- the better side, but the U.S. have made the best of what they have, played with heart right to the end and done their country proud.

Should be a good game against Belgium who are seen by many as dark horses. They're very talented but beatable, you've got every chance against them.

I read article after article calling this the biggest game in US Soccer History. (which led me to believe I am the only one in the country aware they made the round of 8 last decade, but I digress).

So the US goes out and plays well but loses the biggest game in US Soccer History.

And right now all the American fans are cheering and celebrating.

BECAUSE FUTBOL!!!

Belgium aren't that good.

Germany was better today, but US was not fresh. They had one day less rest than the Germans.

Right, NFL teams have NEVER lost the last game of the regular season but celebrated because a different team's loss put them in the playoffs.
