"Freeney plans to test his ankle in pregame warmups. But, barring any setbacks, Freeney is expected to play at defensive end in what could turn out to be a football version of Knicks center Willis Reed hobbling onto the court for a championship game against the Lakers."

Good. Put him in there on 3rd and 4 and watch the Saints run right at him for 10 yards. If he really had a 3rd degree sprain he won't be effective and the Saints can double Mathis all game and Brees will pick them apart.

Re: OT: Schefter says source tells him Freeney likely to play`

i cant imagine he'll be effective if he's actually playing on a torn ligament in his ankle. all the painkillers in the world couldnt stop that from hurting him. in fact, it might hurt the colts more if they have a hobbled freeney on the field; the saints will run right at mathis and freeney wont be able to come down the line to make the play

Re: OT: Schefter says source tells him Freeney likely to play`

the willis reed angle is a bit much.....NOW...not knowing how effective he'll be. If he comes out and plays and gets 2 sacks and a FF while hobbling....ok...then....maybe. BUT...lots of people are getting caught up in the willis reed angle wayyyyyyyy to early!

I did see where willis told the Bergen record in NJ that Freeney needs to do whatever he can to try and play.

NO KIDDING!!!!!

You're right 100%.

Schefter also said Freeney wouldn't be "Freeney".

If that's the case he'd be doing the Colts a favor by just sitting this one out. Without that ability to rush the passer he becomes a liability

good ! no excuses.

No doubt Po-lian will have an excuse when they lose, like how they weren't able to pip crowd noise in...oh wait, that's never happened before...

Still, I can't see how Freeny will make a difference with his injury...

we can at least prepare the field and leave it uncovered....;)

Comes down to if you would rather have a 100% Raheem Brock or a a 50% (or less) Freeney

Willis Reed had 4 points in the famous game, it's not like he went off for 30 in the first half. I think one or two tackles would be the equivalent.

So Bill Polian has called out Freeney I see.

The Colts have a lot of faith in Brock (which is somewhat justified; while no Freeney, he could start on a lot of teams). If they see that Freeney is struggling the first few times he's in, and "not Freeney," they'll take him out.

I think people might be surprised, though. Lots of mixed signals coming out of the Colts camp this week; I don't think Freeney is so stubborn that he'd play if ineffective. He might be better than people think...
