Start and groom O'Connell for the remaining 15 and grab a top 10 pick and prepare for 09...................

It's a shame but it seems to be how it's looking. Unlike BTM, I think the Patriots can compete for a playoff spot without Brady but his top 10 pick could be right - we'll see I guess but with a good defense, strong RB and WR I think we can have a solid 9-10 win season.

What a negative nancy! 2001 ring a bell?

IF, and that's a big IF, Brady were to miss the season... We start Cassel, we sign a vet to back cassel up, and we continue to groom Oconnell for the future. And we still try to win the SB this year, which we STLL have a good chance to do even without the greatest QB in the world. We still have a damn good football team and you don't NEED a HOF qb to win the superbowl.

Why don't we just wait for the official MRI?

Im sorry I jut dont see 9 or 10 wins with Cassel behind center. Im thinkin 7-9 or 8-8 at best.

If so, say goodbye to the SB this season.

I love the team and coaching staff but there is no way they make it through the AFC playoffs without Brady.

God this would suck ass

Yahoo Sports' Michael Silver says Tom Brady is expected to miss the rest of the season with ligament damage in his knee.

It's all speculation. Until I hear or read it from the Pats, I am thinking that he will be back at some point this season. I have to be optimistic. Thinking the worst isn't going to bring Brady back any faster.

IF true, and if the team goes .500 or worse and has a high draft pick (in each round), the 2009 team will be RIDICULOUS.

silver has usually the inside info since he is tight with brady.
michael smith says BB gave a speech about how one goes down another has to step up and he cited examples or warner and brady
trent dilfer just said he talked to someone in the locker room who said matt cassell is our starter for the rest of the football season.

Silver's a douche. A team source? No one from the Pats organization talks. If it's season-ending, we'll likely know tomorrow morning. BB prefers to IR people ASAP so as to sign reinforcements as much as possible. If there's no news by tomorrow, that might be good.

The Patriots don't normally talk about injuries. I find it interesting that so many people on this team are running their mouths.

Oh my goodness. How quick everything changes.

"Tom EFFIN Brady is gone, and so is our season!"
"We can't win without Tom. Without him we are nuttin'"
"Stay down Rock, you ain't got a chance, stay down and fight anutha day!"

Come on everyone. Is losing Brady a blow? Hell Yes! But, what about our TEAM mantra. Everyone here who has always preached that, the team has always preached that, the coaches have always preached that. Was it just a bunch of bull ****?

This team's success does not rest on Brady's shoulders alone. Have some faith in the staff, and have some faith in the PLAYERS!

Key word P-L-A-Y-E-R-S!

This team has had some incredibly ****ty rosters and gone all the way. It can be done again. This team is deep, and very talented. They will march on without Brady.

Let's not forget that Brady's diagnosis isnt even out yet.

Why dont we talk about other things. Like the stout performance of our defense, the return of Sammy Morris's downhill running, the porous play calling of Mcdaniels, Cassells surprising performance?

What the Cassell people need to realize is HE HAS NO ARM ... his arm sucks. He is intelligent enough to be a backup and that is all. With Cassell as QB it's like we're also losing the deep threat of Randy Moss. Teams will pack it in on us ... end of story.

If this is true this would really suck. Coming about 10 football minutes after losing the lead in the SB with 35 seconds left - losing Brady for the season in the first quarter of the first game after the SB would be just like getting kicked in the other nut.

I'm just gonna refuse to believe this until I read something official from the Patriots.

Exactly, imagine adding a James Laurnaitis to play next to Mayo :) :) :)

Then bring back a fully-healed TB with O'Connell fully developed with a battle tested season under his belt......... :)
