As a long time Flutie fan, I'm resigned to hoping that he gets to back up Cassel next season! It doesn't seem like either he or the Pats are in a hurry to make that decision.

I suppose a lot depends on whether Flutie looked better in practise than he did on the field last year and on how much confidence the team has in Cassel. I'd like to see Flutie back for a year, backing and presumably mentoring Cassel.

Tiant was so dominating in the early seventies. I remember him as second only to Yaz as the guy who inspired and reinvigorated the franchise.

Brady's comments are a non-issue. The drop kick is a non-issue. It all goes to show that when you are the guy they are looking up to, they either throw roses or turds, usually some of each. Cassel looked good when he got warmed up. I was impressed. I'd guess that he's already number two.
