I think you missed the larger point. Gronk, Jones, et al were drafted during Dynasty no 1. And only 3 - Collins, Thuney and Mac drafted in Dynasty 2. As the pro bowlers from Dynasty no 1 were lost through attrition (retires, trades, lost in FA), there was nobody to replace them.
2013 the Beginning of the end
Super Bowl wins in '14, '16, '18 masks the story of talent depletion. I am now convinced more than ever that Brady made up for BB's failures in drafting during theses SB's. An honest retrospective shows that 2013 was the beginning of the end for the Patriots...
I beg to differ. Gotta look beyond the 10 win stat. Even in their own division, the Pats were not competitive and only won 3 games out of 7. And two of those three wins were against the Jets.
I expect Mac and the offense will improve with tweaking, but the defense has a long way to go. If the...
We need defensive playmakers. Lot of them. Our offense will need to be complemented by a stout defense with playmakers that can make game winning plays.
Here’s some context regarding competitive Pats teams of the past. Every Pats SB winning defense had multiple playmakers at each of the three...
Would the Pats trade draft capital (2-firsts, 1-second/third) to move up? Only if they know with absolute certainty that the player they want is there. The only player in my view worth that is Mac Jones. BB has intel from Saban and BOB. And Mac is nearly bust proof.
I am holding out hope for both Jimmy AND Mac Jones. Pats get Jimmy for a 3rd. Jimmy restructures to a cap friendly deal. Jimmy repairs his value and reputation with Pats for a year or two while Mac develops. Mac, IMO is the best QB in 2021 class not named Trevor Lawrence. Mac is accurate, good...
I don't know if it has been mentioned, (sorry if it has) but if you are interested in more background info and context about Jeff Thomas, there is an excellent documentary about East St Louis football called 89 blocks. The doc is about the success of the football team despite being in a city...
Look, many would agree that BB can be a ****. But he is our ****. Sometimes his ****ness is indefensible. I just wish that the best coach of all time would be a little bit more respectful and accommodating. How bout taking a lead from the GOAT. or Slate, or McCourty, etc.
Agreed. I felt bad for the guy. Foot work looked very inconsistent. Telegraphing passes and long windups. Looked nothing like the player he was in NE. Is SF coaching trying to chance his technique? Hope not.
This is such a non-story and an overreaction by media and fans. Brady wanted to prevent people associating his likeness with Tom Terrific on merchandise, etc.

Brady explained the “Tom Terrific” trademark request. He didn’t like the nickname and...
