Patriots 'part ways' with OL coach Dave DeGuglielmo

Not surprised. While expecting him to be at the level of Scar was overambitious, expecting at least some resemblance of a line is not an unfair expectation. Hopefully the next guy is better.

How about the new special teams coach, I figured he will be next, or they are going to risk having him on for another year?

Yay!!! He has to be held accountable. The Oline has been horrendous. I know injuries have been an issue, but this has been a MAJOR reason this team has come up short. It's been a freaking revolving door. Even seasoned lineman look lost. There have been coaching issues all season. BB and TB deserve and need better. The oline has been pissing all of us off all season.

Anybody have an idea who the in house replacement could be if they go that route?
If I had to guess, Daboll from TE to OL and somebody new at TE. It appeared that they were training him for that job in 2013 when he basically was Scar's assistant, but then the TE job opened up too and he went there. If they want to send the message that improvement is needed, then moving a more established coach (and unanimously the top OC candidate if McDaniels had left) there would send a strong message. Of course, the concern would be that it's only a short term fix if he does indeed end up the OC in 2017.

I mean, it is hardly a surprise. Granted there were a lot of injuries to that group this year, but someone had to be held accountable for the record number of hits TB12 absorbed yesterday, and furthermore, there was the regression (nagging injuries aside) of players like Stork and Cannon to name a few.
The regression was across the board. Even when the tackles were healthy early in the year, DEs were flying by these guys and the communication was wretched. This team abandoned the run midseason because starters were getting blown up in their own the backfield and the one job left, pass blocking, was a comedy of errors. How did anyone not see this coming?

That was a quick eval. I don't understand an in house promotion for OL coach, if they were that good, they should have helped out. We need a new influx of ideas.

That's a really good point. And TE would open up for one of the current Coaching Assistants.

OL looked fine when the unit was healthy and I sure as hell am not going to blame Gug for being saddled with Cannon. It'll be interesting to see who they replace him with.

We loved him last season. He lost both starting tackles. I didn't think Googs was going to Canton for his work this year, but I wonder what got him "let go."
His line looked phenomenal at home last week.

I am not convinced that Josh McDaniels comes back, I wouldn't be surprised if he chooses to leave to try establish himself without Brady and Belichick again. But saying that he probably stays at least another year.

Yay !!! About time I guess . This loss must have struck a nerve with BB.

Maybe I don't understand the whole oline coach but don't isn't the players job simply just to block the guy in front of him? How can a better coach help this guy's from being turnstiles?
