Belichick thinks Patriots primed for ‘optimum performance’ vs. Chiefs - The Boston Globe

“The team is excited about getting ready for the game, it’s obviously a big game against a great team who’s playing very well,” Belichick said. “Everything is pointing toward us being at our best and an optimum performance on Saturday afternoon. That’s what we’re all working toward, and where we hope to be.”

Apparently, the team seems to have had a good week of practice and the coach believes that holding the walking wounded out of the finale was a good idea. Seems he expects the freshest and healthiest team we've seen in over a month. This was, of course, in between burning questions about Chandler Jones.

I thought Bill was angry about practice! :D

I can't wait to see what trick play they'll unleash. But I guess they'll only do that if they're down. So I'd rather not see a trick play.

He was furious! This clearly indicates that the team will lose by 45.

On a serious note, I get the feeling that Bill is looking at this almost like the AFCCG. He's obviously not going to take the next opponent lightly, but like Baltimore last year, this will be our toughest AFC matchup.

Some people are afraid of going to Denver next week, but I will go on record as stating that I do not believe that game will be much of a challenge. We would win it comfortably if we get through this week. You can tell that Bill valued health over HFA, and rightfully so. The team can beat anyone anywhere if healthy.

I googled 'optimum performance'

this is what I got:

Arrogance

We will see. I hope the Pats are ready to go.

The only thing I don't like about this year is I don't think the Pats have any ace up their sleeve like they did going into Baltimore last year.

No way Bill is losing this game clockworkorange_3055936b.jpg

Am I off base here when I say this comment by Bill, “Everything is pointing toward us being at our best and an optimum performance on Saturday afternoon." is something he would rarely say before a game?

Nope haven't seen it. Different team, different rational behind his statements. More of a nice try guys but we haven't been listening to your BS. Much like the boxing gloves. I bet the team loves that.

I think all the deep throws we have been doing even though our line was horrible was for the playoffs. Now we go back to the short medium stuff with defenses expecting some deep routes. In the event we do throw deep at least we have had some practice at it.

This game will go down to the wire like last year divisional round. This is the AFCCG, unless of course the Chiefs win, then the AFCCG will be more balanced.

You are assuming that the coordinators of other teams are as naive and stupid as some of the posters on this board that still believe that we got outcoached in the last two games.

We only need them to be stupid once or twice during the game so we can get a nice open deep play to work.

Not sure how you knew that the had things up the sleeve vs BAL and not this game?

KC is as close as you'll get to the Pats coaching wise, and discipline wise. It's a bad match up for us because we always feast on these dumb teams, which is 90% of the NFL.

I still think we can overcome it, even with Gronk at 60-75%.

Brady needs to have a great game, not good, great.
The D needs to step up and if not win us a game, give us a game.
The O line needs to be OK, yes just OK at the very least.

If that's what happens, I don't care who is playing us. We should win.

I was going to say the same thing. Almost never hear him say something like that. The MOST you might get out of him is 'we had a good week of practice'. I would almost think that quote was made up!
