The Official Patriots vs Jets POST Game Thread

Why are people saying he was showboating? He was gonna go out and saw a lane and got a few more yards. When he saw the Jets closing on him that's when he spun out of bounds. Hardly showboating.

The same reason people are saying Mangold is a dirty player who went for Talib's knees. If it were just a clumsy offensive lineman trying to knock a dancing defensive back out of bounds, ending in an awkward sideline pile-up, then nothing that followed would be justified.

So depending on your allegiance either Talib was showboating or Mangold is a dirty player and the scrum that followed was the natural result of justice being enforced by adults.

This your first Pats game? Brady's been like that his whole career, he's treating these rookies the way he treats veterans, if you mess up, he gets pissed, if he messes up, he gets pissed, he's been like that since day 1. He's one of the most successful QB's of all time, Id prefer to let him do what he does.

He jumped the shark tonight. There have been signs but this may have been it. The best QB ever, yes but we have not developed any receivers in years and years and you are seeing why. Well now this is all we have. Screaming, pouting and sitting by yourself doesn’t help. You saw his body language, his slumped shoulders when he went out. He wrote this game off. Good thing the defense came to play.

If anyone say Vince on the NFL postgame you know what I mean. He was over the moon and said something to the effect that he was delighted to see an ugly three point win because in the past they could win by 40 but didn’t know what to do when it was a close game.
Brady post game was more depressed than Rex. Hey Tom, your TEAM won.

I disagree and if its not stopped they won't go anywhere. Perfectionism should be focused on self improvement. He is a senior player who should show leadership, not what he showed tonight. He owes his teammates an apology for the way he acted. If this doesn't change, bad things lie ahead.

I am actually quite optimistic about the team if he does man up and realize he has to bring these guys along. One of the reasons they are in this hole is their total lack of development of young receivers in the last 6 or 7 years. Again, what young receiver is going to thrive under that leadership?

I don't disagree with you stating that he may have made an error in judgment on the replay that they showed a bunch of times.

Aside from that it really isn't that big of a deal, is it?

Like I said initially, it may end up being the difference between a wasted season due to the young WR's and a deep playoff run. That's the kind of fire and passion that Brady brings on every play. I'm sure they're all fine now and he's addressed the issue and moved on.

For guys getting the opportunity to play a game for millions of dollars, they should have a good idea what they're doing. I don't imagine that Brady just freaked out the very first time (or two) that it happened.

Ok, you're just trolling us. Even the new age idiots wouldn't by this crap, given that Brady's been the the AFCCG or SB in more than half his seasons as a starting QB.

And trolling badly. He's still probably the first guy in and last guy out of that stadium and he has a supermodel making bazillions of dollars that he could go home and ****.

Pardon my english.

I'm glad that he admitted going over the top a couple/few times tonight, but what about his patience on the other 20 or so plays (at least) that didn't work out due to mistakes?

Let's not overreact too much to 2-3 times when he was pissed. Actually, the replay that they keep showing where it continued to the bench was the exact same play, so all of this talk is likely about him freaking out one major time. Big deal...

Iam not overreacting. And it wasnt once. I really didnt see how it helped the players play any better. I love him as a leader and as our QB but today nothing was working and he can do a better job at this when he knows they are rookies, short week and someone like dobson with a bad hammy hasnt even practiced in a while most likely. That all.Not a big deal .But he wasnt perfect as a 13 yr old vet commanding the huddle. If this was forehead , we would be giddy about this ..

if those guys cant handle that, then they dont belong in the nfl. god forbid someone hold them accountable. Brady's fire is a thing of beauty

Rookies.....it was dobsons first game.....these guys need reps

It will come together.....Dobson and thompkins can get open.....

I couldn’t disagree more. He is a papered diva. Can you imagine working with someone like him on a team? The only person sitting with him was Josh. He needs to shut the hell up with his little drama queen act and try and lead. Destroying these kids is a great way to make sure they never amount to anything. I saw the Jets offense huddled around talking about what they were going to do and Geno showing more leadership. Brady is very talented but he shows no leadership skills at all.

WOW!. I could imagine working with him with 3 SB rings. These guys don't need to be coddled. This is the BIG leagues now. Your the thrown in the fire, yes, but you have catch the ball more than that. There were like 5 receptions between everyone and 13 to Edes. No leadership skills? I guarantee TB is apologizing to them as we speak. It's time for the Rooks to step up. He'll prolly buy em all a car. It's not their fault, but they are the cause. He gets super competitive. They should have that much emotion. EDIT: He was pretty apologetic and humbled in the presser. It's the same with the whiners complaining the Game Threads get to knee jerk. It's a competitive game even as a fan, let alone a player.

I dont agree its that bad of deal that "if its not stopped".... Its not some epidemic. He can do better and now knows like he admitted today. There is no need to apologize. This is football.

He made Welker, resurrected Moss' career. I think he wants guys who work as hard as he does. Branch was awesome with Brady then fell off the face of the earth. Same with Givens. Edelman is obviously a stud. All developed by the Pats.

Why am I responding to a troll? Somebody stop me before I post again.

Brady is human. I understand his frustration. Were he to kick BB in the groin for putting the team in this situation, I'd understand.

BUT

He's the leader. He's older. More grounded. Yelling is for the practice field. In game conditions it doesn't pay to however deservedly unleash on hapless rooks. It will not help THEM focus. Yell the 1st couple times and then just (Please be quiet - edited) and lead.

Dobson ran an almost identical route late, where he had drifted and looked to late for a ball already there earlier. The later play, he immediately turned his head and looked that ball right in there with laser vision.

Sorry, I have to disagree with everyone worrying about hurt feelings. we're two games into the season and tough love might be the order of the day. Battlefield promotions. I'm sorry, if these kids are going to make it in the NFL, they need to bear down and concentrate. I trust Brady to be as friendly as can be other times, but these games count.

Screaming, pouting and sitting by yourself doesn’t help.

That happened one time tonight, and it was a continuation from the same play where he yelled and was too animated on the field. There was another time or two where his body language wasn't as good as it should be (here we go again w/ the body language), but you keep going back to ONE instance.

If anyone say Vince on the NFL postgame you know what I mean. He was over the moon and said something to the effect that he was delighted to see an ugly three point win because in the past they could win by 40 but didn’t know what to do when it was a close game.

It seems that he had a much more positive attitude in the presser, just like Vince, so I'm not seeing the comparison.

This is a guy who has been like this his whole career and got into an argument with the OC a couple of seasons ago when Underwood ran the wrong route in the endzone.

They practice for a reason. If we're going to deal with little babies who can't take getting a fiery talking to, then they are on the wrong team. This team expects a high performance for the money it pays to its employees.

I doubt we'll see this in the future, so the whole conversation is probably pointless.

I think it is a fork in the road and I don't know which way it will go. He could correct and bring these guys up in which case I think they will be stacked by playoff time. I expect they will win the AFCE.

Or it could spiral down. Tonight was more than a warning flag, it was a problem. Luckily the defense brought it like they used to.

I don't understand folks who say it is ok for a veteran OB to act like that when a game is on the line. We all have bad days and hopefully that is all it was. I mean they won, ugly yes but we all know they have had problems of late with close games. like Vince said, this is what they need, close ugly games to learn how to win.

You compare vince's demeanor to brady's after his offense sucked and vince's defense played great ? We have won so many games with various players and you extrapolate it to "years and and years" ?? I didnt agree with brady today but you are way over the top. We should trade him. What do you say ?

Who the hell do you think we are ? jets ? bucs ? Seriously.

Our special teams continues to stink up the place--we desperately need a spark there to flip the field once in a while. We have neglected that aspect of the game for years. Why the heck is Blount returning kickoffs? I hate how NE just ignores it since they think Brady will drop 50 every week.

Seriously? The kickoff has become the most irrelevant play in the league. And we have the best punt returner there is. Did the Rats even return a kickoff tonight?

I like Blount back there beause I don't care if he gets hurt. I really don't like Blount. Not even a little.

Offense was terrible but that was to be expected.

you can complain about the run offense, but the Jets shut Doug Martin down, and Doug Martin is a better overall RB than Ridley (as much as i like ridley).

Receiving core was down to all rookies+edelman.

Basically, there is really nowhere to go but up for the offense (well, unless edelman, dobson, ridley, etc all get injured too)

D was solid. You can say it has 2 games against rookies/poor offense, but it got shredded by terrible offenses last year, so while they may not be world beaters, they have certainly improved.

There were a couple of times where he was too animated, but the specific instance that you're referring to on the bench was a continuation from the on the field instance--that's why I am counting it as "one" really over the top reaction.

Either way, I hear what you're saying. It's simply a difference of opinions.

I don't think we'll have to worry too much about it in the future. It would seem that Brady will be more aware and more patient, but I think we should also laud him for being as patient as he was with all of the other mistakes that were repeated over and over and over.

No one objects to defensive games lol. These are two awful teams they just beat. Lets see how they do against Atlanta before we call this a winning defense.

Neither the Jets nor the Bills are "awful". Both teams are rebuilding, but have very strong cores. Both the front 7s of the Bills and Jets are very good. Both teams have 1 very good CB and the Bills have an excellent safety in Jairus Byrd. The right side of the Bills O-line is one of the best in the league. The Jets O-line is also improved. That was shown during the running game, though not the passing game.

The Patriots are a very YOUNG team and you can guarantee that neither Belichick, Brady, Wilfork, or others are going to let them rest on their laurels about these wins. They will be talking about the screw ups (drops, wrong routes, missed coverages) for 3-4 days and also working on improving things like the rookies hands (jugs machines on OT in the dome). Then it will be on to the Bucs.
