I'm guessing the cut will be one of these guys: BJGE, Fletcher, White

It's now being reported that he cleared waivers and will be signed to the practice squad.

Why would the team trade for White, and then cut him the next day?

Excellent.......

Given where he came from, and that he's a conversion project, this makes more sense.

I find this to be very disappointing, as an indicator of where we are,

This guy is a free agent type, the Pats have half-dozen players into their camp,, one PS player after another, year after year.

They spend millions of dollars to find the good players,,Apparantly Houston has a better draft staff then we do,
OK BB how you gona fix your drafting plan??
We use to keep our own for the PS, but now we know better.

Yea it's a black art, but as demonstrated, the other teams are better at it.

Color me disappointed,, for lack of a more colorful phrase,,,,,,,

Again, it's a CONDITIONAL pick, so we didn't lose anything.

Nope, Houston didn't draft him either. He was a UDFA -- didn't get drafted by anyone because he was straddling the line, staying small enough for a chance to be drafted as a blocking TE but talking about a switch to tackle. By all accounts the conversion was going well and Houston wanted him for their practice squad.

Gee, that sounds vaguely familiar. . . .

ROFLMAO.... What are you rambling on about?? Seriously. The Pats have 16 of 24 guys they've drafted on their main roster, two got picked up by other teams, and the Pats have 2 on their PS, and you're complaining about the DRAFT? Seriously???

If you're disappointed over that, then maybe it's your expectations that are out of whack.... for lack of a more colorful phrase.

If you are talking about Maneri, then I'm not sure where you heard that he cleared waivers. The Pats announced that they claimed him in their official release. Not tha they signed him to their practice squad.

If you aren't talking about Maneri, who are you talking about?

THIS IS PART OF THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS THEY SPEND. They track all of the players coming out of college that they liked, regardless of what team they end up with after the draft, and this week is the week where they get a second shot at signing them. Plus, they get the added advantage of having the kids go through an NFL training camp for evaluation.

73, If you think building the Pats from other teams cast-offs is the way to go, then enjoy that,

I won't get in your way,,

Last year we could not beat Houston on the field, this year we need their cast-offs, ,,,

If the Patriots were really trying to win in Houston, they would not have sent Hoyer out to run a two-minute drill without Randy Moss. Besides, whatever plans they had for that game went out the window completely as soon as Welker hit the turf.

So he is faster than Spikes? Move him to defense :bricks:

All of those stats mean little. If you cannot do your job of your position, you are worthless.

We'll see if Maneri can cut it.

I don't know if this kid will develop or not, but there is nothing the matter with castoffs from other teams. Wes Welker was a castoff from San Diego at one time. The fact they are moving guys at the bottom of the roster isn't abnormal for any team. There aren't any NFL teams that don't do the exact same thing. Miami and the Jets both made as many moves as the Pats did today.

I understand people want all the players to be great, but the drama that goes on when the team juggles bottom-of-the-roster players is silly.

Combine that with the whole LB drama (which, to be fair, is quite justifiable), and it's not surprising, actually.

Good LORD.

BTW: The "period" is right next to the "comma". Attaboy. ;)

COOL.

Getting a TAD ahead'f myself, here...But the long-term "Tackle Eligible" possibilities are kind'f cool...

agreed, a 300 lb Tackle / TE, Ooooh Gronk and the Man.....

I am JACKED that we got this guy.

He is one my BINKIEST Binkies!! :D

From my Write Up in April, when I was pimping him as a Tight End:

If this guy can master about 300 pounds of meat on that frame ~ and he sure as hell can ~ his exceptional athleticism, tremendous center of gravity, and FEROCIOUS appetite for punishing Defenders could produce an extraordinary Right Tackle, in a couple of years, just in time for Sebastian The Great to seize the Left Tackle gig from the venerable Matt Light.

Sounds ideal for the tackle-eligible role.
