Not accurate. The defensive efficiency in the Super Bowl was astronomically awful, whereas the offensive efficiency wasn't that far off norm. Lack of possessions decided our fate.

As regards to Pepper - I haven't even thought about the guy since he went to Chicago. We have plenty of players on the roster who we have extended who am I happy to have here longterm. Who knows if we could've retained them if we broke the bank for Peppers.

Besides, Chandler Jones looks like the all-around beast that we want at that position anyway.

As others have mentioned, with Peppers, we'd be without Wilfork, at the very least. Who'd you have anchoring the D-Line??? Peppers? That's a joke..

Who'd be the QB? Mallett?? Hoyer??

Sorry, but the Pats wouldn't have won one with Peppers because it wasn't the defense that cost the Pats the SB. Or did you miss the offense not being able to run out the clock when we needed it the most?

Defense was, pretty clearly, one of the big factors in the Patriots losing XLVI. That said, though, Peppers wouldn't have helped for the reasons previously listed here.

Didnt Back to the Future teach you anything.

Alternate 1985 was no good what would make you think alternate Julius Peppers destination would be any good?

I think it's pretty close between keeping Wilfork and signing Peppers. I'd have to give it a thought about who I'd rather have. And you're kidding yourself if you think the Patriots would have left Brady walk under any circumstance.

Just like signing Mario has totally guaranteed a SB for Buffalo!

Wlfork over Peppers hands down, with Vince you get one of the best team leaders in league plus ability, character and work ethic.

No tnx

Agreed, Peppers definitely would have helped but, the defense held the giants to 17 and 19. A top offense like the pats should of won both. Yeah the defense gave up game winning drives but they still played a solid game.

Wilfork, no question. He's a guy you can count on to go out there and play hard every down. Peppers isn't always there mentally. Much easier to give a guy like Wilfork big $.

My assumption is he would have made defense better.

1. More QB pressure takes pressure off Secondary
2. We would get off field on 3rd downs

We know have the financially savvy version of Peppers in C. Jones

Clearly Peppers was a lot of money to bite on and pre strike but given how many people we ran through here. Clearly Pats would not want to tip the lockerroom salary issue.

But money aside I say we would have won one with him.

I just hope C. Jones can do teh same some day!!!

My problem is my in laws are giants fans
I would tell your inlaws that, while the Giants are a good team, they are without doubt THE luckiest team probably in league history.

In our first SB meeting, obviously the helmut catch, the missed holding on that play, Assante's dropped pick, you can pick from a half dozen ridiculously lucky plays in the last few minutes that ALL had to go the Giants way for them to win. Oh, and Brady's injured ankle from the SD game, which I think had a huge impact on the SB.

Then in the 2nd SB matchup: first, they didn't even belong there, SF did. Then they lose decisively if Gronk is anywhere near 100%. Then Brady gets hurt midway thru the game. Then the very fortunate completion to Manningham (which I admit was more skill than luck, but a lot of luck too). Then the Welker drop while completely uncovered, the very close Hail Mary at the end, and I know I'm forgetting another 3 or 4 other plays late in that game too.

They are way beyond "making your own luck", which is why they'll never make it again, the odds are too great.
