that the biggest football game of the year will be overshadowed by a sport that is no longer america's past time... who cares of the fa signing.. this is football season not a stupid fa signing...lets talk some football save all the baseball calls till wed at least, this is a huge game...
I agree. The Gonzalez trade was the first interesting thing the Sox did since trading Manny (and thus, trading the last remaining interesting player on the team away) - but no matter. It's still a dreadfully boring squad. I'm not going to worry about the Sox for a long time. This Pats game is too big to be trumped by that personality-less team Theo has put together.

FWIW, Gresh and Zolak should be doing Pats nearly exclusively today. There is a distinct benefit to having two guys who really only know football. I hear you about the baseball talk, too. Apparently the Sox traded for a guy who is a super nifty hitter and that's a good thing. It's too complex and violent a sport for my taste, anyways.

Baseball is the "thinker's man" game..you have to keep track of such complicated things like strikes, balls and outs.
To me - that's why football is the best of both worlds. It is - by far - the most complicated and mentally taxing of the major sports, yet offers the most entertainment value regardless of this fact. You can spend as much - or as little - time on the game, and enjoy it the same.
Boston is a baseball town. It has only been the last decade that the Patriots have edged out the Celtics for being #2.
Less you blame it all on the media, it is the fans. The people chanting "Yankees suck" at the Patriots Superbowl Parade.
I've lived in MA my whole life, and granted, while that's just over two and a half decades of living, in my time I've been heard Boston referred to as a baseball, football, basketball and hockey town at various points in time.
Boston - like any city - is going to embrace winning teams. I don't resent front-running when it comes to the average New England fan. The average Joe Shmoe who doesn't spend their time dissecting these teams apart as a hobby as we do is going to find most enjoyment watching a team that has a chance to compete for a title. It's just a fact of life.
Therefore, whichever team is doing best is going to capture the headlines.
Let's not forget that the shows are very caller driven as well, so a lot of times it's what the caller wants to talk about that builds momentum. Combine that with the fact that we've had four extra days to think about the Jets game, and a splash like that is going to be the story until the Pats and Jets actually square off.

Interesting - during my commute to work this morning, WEEI was mostly Pats talk and the Sports Hub was all Red Sox talk.
Therefore, whichever team is doing best is going to capture the headlines.
That is not true.
Bostonians chanted "Yankees suck" at the superbowl parade. The front runner was clearly the Patriots. They had just won the SUPERBOWL. The Redsox had just gone 82-79, yet the fans at the parade were more interested in celibrating the Diamondbacks victory over the Yankees than the Patriots win over the Rams.
The Redsox even when playing medicore or poorly are a more important team to New Englanders than the Patriots, Celtics or Bruins. Those three rotate based on how well each is doing into and out of the 2-4 sports. But the Red Soxes are always the #1 team in Boston.
How many fans were chanting for the Patriots at the Red Sox World Series Parade? How many fans were chanting for the Soxes at the Superbowl parades? That says a lot.

This is more a perception thing than a reality. Pats football consistently outdraws vewiers than the Sox - regular season, post season, etc. The media here wants to keep that perception a reality too. Obviously it worked with you.
