The Skins had 36m. Lost 18m. Signed a wr for what 7 and 3. Meriweather is prob less than 1m. RG3 will make about 20m4. Math works for me.

I heard on the radio today that someone reported that the league have found that the contract structure of some of the deals they did this week violate cap rules and could be fined draft picks. I haven't been able to find this report though.

Florio reported earlier this week that the Redskins did some really questionable things with Morgan's and Garcon's contracts to make their cap hit negligible this year.

I heard 28 mil for RG3 .....just seems amazing that they can sign so many guys and yet the Pats don't open the wallet for anyone. I know it is their style and recipe....but still interesting...

Well, with the continual success of the Redskins' franchise since Snyder bought the team and the continual failures of the Belichick lead Patriots, you would think the Pats would adopt the Redskins' "winning" strategy.

Rookies don't typically get signed until a day or two before the start of training camp; teams have between now and then to make space for them. All teams had to be under the cap by the start of the new league year, which coincided with the start of free agency on Tuesday.

In addition with the new CBA the days of deals like Bradford got as a draftee from the Rams are history; Luck and RGIII will get nothing close to that. Cam Newton by comparison got a 4-year deal for $22 million last year; considering the cap went up less than a million this year and RGIII will be the second pick in the draft, my guess is that it will be no more than that; certainly not $28 million.

Most of the dead money that Washington had in the recent past is off the books at this point. They're also not really bound to any current big money, eight-figure cap number contracts the way teams with elite quarterbacks are.

As for the cap money they were assessed, they still had $12.5 million available even after they lost $18 million in cap space.

Washington Redskins salary cap shows you their individual cap figures.

Do you have any idea how that statement makes you look? When the Pats resgined Brady, he was the highest paid QB ever. When they signed Wilfork, he was the highest paid NT ever. Look at Mankin's contract. The Pats spend near the cap every year and have since Kraft has owned the team.

Here's the surprising thing, Merriweather signed for 2 years for $6MM. I can't imaging anyone signing Brandon for $3mm/yr. BB and his staff could coach him to be dependable, and he ended up being released. Lovie and his staff tried, and he being demoted and let go. Why would the Skins staff think that it will be any better with them. He the classic feast or famine safety who is more famine than feast.....and being "uncoachable" isn't a good thing.

Who know's. The talent is there. Maybe the 3rd time is the charm.

The Skins are always fun to watch!

I hope some of that contract for Merriwether is guaranteed.
