Default Into the head of: Bill Polian

Here's an article explaining why the Colts always rest near the end of the season, from Dec 1 (I think from 2009):

Indianapolis Colts President Bill Polian: Concept of late-season rust and momentum ?pure fantasy?

It seems like the ghosts of Polian's past muddle his current decision making. I would say that, had the Colts already lost a game, the game was meaningless. However, I think that the game was not meaningless. Meaningless for standings, yes. Meaningless for history, no.

This is why Belichick is the coach he is. When 4th and 2 backfired, he didn't clam up and say, "Well forget ever going for it on 4th down again!"

Letting one instance of bad luck change your philosophy to one of ultra-conservatism is a loser's mentality.
