They've basically been bouncing around between available head coaches. Not saying it won't be Shanny, but I really think it's going to be Ferentz. He is Pioli's guy. If anything, I can see Shanny taking at least a year off from the job. I have been wrong in the past though...

Either one is a good choice for them. Cant wait to watch Pioli work that draft. When he trades down and locals here groan, i'll be recognizing whats going on and smiling.

Follow up claiming ESPN has Shanahan heading to KC, but I'm not watching ESPN to verify:

I agree. IMO having been at one place for so long, if he comes back to coaching at all, he'll take his time and wait for the right ownership for him.

I'd like to see Shanahan there just for the KC-Denver thing, that kind of thing can be fun with ex coaches.

Don't forget Oakland..... Shanahan would be only the Chargers away from hitting the AFC West cycle.

I'm not sure if I agree with the Chiefs hiring Shanahan. Their offense is missing some key pieces but they're one really good quarterback and a downhill runner away from being a good (not great) offense. Their offensive line is decent last time I checked.

I would have thought Pioli would seek a defensive minded head coach since that is the way we built the dynasty here and since the Chiefs defense is in much more need of help than the Chiefs offense. That's pretty much why a Shanahan hiring does not make sense to me.

This is very interesting if true, because we know how much Shanahan loves his quarterbacks and the Chiefs don't have one. This would seem to all but guarantee that the Chiefs either draft one at #3 or make a deal for one (say, Cassel).

This offseason, with all the former Patriots people moving all over the board as well as the Cassel situation and the numerous potential draft picks for New England, is shaping up to be very interesting indeed.

Yep, it will make for an interesting division. We also could use the AFCW not sucking next year as the AFCN plays them and a loss here or there for Baltimore or Pittsburgh could help.
