I think that Pioli would be tripping over himself to get to the podium if Adams fell to 24. I would be AMAZED if Adams fell out of the top 10.

That being said, Adams is the guy I've wanted for the Pats since the start of the season.

He ran a 4.38????? Was this a down hill track? He ovbiously runs faster than he plays. That is amazing!

My gut reaction s that he and Houston he will off the board by #24. Hall could very well fall to us.

Here's my top 23. By position not in order.

QB Russell, Quinn
RB Peterson and M.Lynch
WR C.Johnson,Ginn,D.Bowe
TE G.Olsen
OL J.Thomas and L.Brown
DL G.Adams,J.Anderson,A.Branch,A.Okoye,A.Carriker,J.M oss
LB P.Willis and L.Timmons
CB L.Hall,C.Houston and D.Revis
S L.Landry and R.Nelson

Leaves us with defenders like;
A.Spencer - OLB/DE
P.Posluszny - LB
D.Harris - LB
B.Merriweather - S
M.Griffin - S
A.Ross - CB

Offense
R.Meachem - wr
J.Hill - wr
B.Grubbs - G
J.Blalock - G
J.Staley - T
T.Ugoh - T
B.Leonard - RB
T.Hunt - RB
M.Gonzalez - wr
S.Smith - wr

I'd probably take A.Spencer at 24 and I think Merriweather drops to
28. I'd love to get R.Nelson. If he falls below 15 I think we could trade
up to get him. Use our 3. Then trade out of Round 1 to get that extra
3 back along with a 2. If there's nobody we're drooling over at 28.

Just say no to Grubbs... err I mean guards in the 1st round. We got our guard stud in Mankins and Neal is pretty solid on the other side. I think other positions need upgrades a lot more. I'd like to get more talent on D, specially the backfield. We need extra solid defenders back there to take on the pass-happy teams and you know who I'm talking about.

I agree w/ you. But there are alot of player that fall in the range of 20-45 that will be only first rounders if a team perceive their skills/ postion as a need. If the board falls to where the best talent is on the offensive side, we should take it and go smiling all the way home. Our "needs" @ this time are more developmental, rather than needs for this year.

Landry once looked remotely possible at 24, or Carriker, or at least Willis. Now Staley and Meachem and Revis have to go and put up gaudy numbers. (I had high hopes when Chris Houston seemed to be leapfrogging Revis after the combine.)

Where's a gal to turn?
I think it's time to hope that a lot of offensive players and DL are taken from 1-23. Sadly, that's not going to happen.

Here's the deal, though. there are about 18 players I hear people talking about as being gone before pick 14. Something doesn't fit right? I also here about 27 players who are gone before pick 24. My first option would be trading wih GB because some of these top 14-15 prospects will fall to at least 16 (GB's pick). But, my second favorite option is just staying put at 24, because someone like a Revis, Nelson, or others still could fall to 24.

Revis and Nelson are Long Gone by 24!

But in all seriousness, is there any point in taking a potential shut-down corner if Samuel and Hobbs are signed through at least 2009?? Further to that, does anyone think Samuel gets extended before the draft?

I liked the theory I read the other day speculating that a deal was in place, but not being announced to allow BB to manipulate the draft. It's the kind of devilish conduct that I like to think my favorite Head Coach gets up to with the league.

Default Revis update...

The rest of his numbers have now been released...and are eerily similar to CB Leon Hall. Here's Revis' Pro Day and Hall's Combine numbers:

Darrelle Revis
5114, 196
40 4.41/4.39
vertical 38"
broad jump 10' 5"
short shuttle 4.08
three-cone 6.56

Leon Hall 5112, 193
40 4.39
vertical 37 1/2
broad jump 10' 5"
short shuttle 4.07
three-cone 6.50

---

Note: Their shuttles and cones were the fastest among all CBs (at the Combine).

Also, the Pats hope for Revis will be contingent upon how many teams go CB in the first 23 picks -- and which CBs will be first off the board. Logically, at least one will go...and probably two. Obviously I'm hoping Hall and Houston go first, dropping Revis.

Hall -- is the highest ranked. The only Senior of the three, and had a highly productive career and a terrific Combine. I think he's first off the board.

Houston -- fastest CB at the Combine. He's naturally fast, while Hall and Revis just timed fast -- big difference. I'm hoping his speed is the attraction to some top 23 team. Wishful thinking on my part however...

Revis -- IMO, the draft's best CB. Yes, he could slide to #24 (ala Wilfork). It'll be a wait-and-see scenario...

Finally, my emphasis on Revis is only due to the potential loss of Samuel, otherwise not a priority need. There are other CB options (only a few), as the CB position isn't as strong this draft like Safety. My hunch is, if we pass on CB at #24, we won't take one at #28, as the one's that fit best are in rounds 2-3.
