I say keep what they have right now at QB to see what they have (Two QB's who have started a total of 48 games and they are like 27. They can draft a QB (Bradford, Snead, McCoy or even Tebow) in the first next year as they will have two because of the trade. Denver I think in the long term might get the best of this deal when we look back on this. Who is Cutler throwing the ball too in Chicago, Hester and Olsen?? Not to mention the issues they have on OL but they do have a stud RB which is good.
With #12 if the grabbed Raji would be a great start for them as I really do not see the USC kid falling below 10 IMO. Freeman I am not sold on as a first rounder....maybe at the end but I think the Jets will reach. Then at #18 Denver could go with Jackson if he sliped or a LB from USC (To each his own) which would be a good start to rebuilding that defense into a 3-4. They picked up some interesting RB in the off season but maybe adding a stud at #18 might be a possibility. They would still have #48 behind us to grab the next best safety or corner which is to be had in that range. If Gilbert was there they would like to pair him with Raji to anchor the 3-4 system. BTW what are they going to do with Dumerville?? I did always like to watch the little guy rush off the edge but do not see him as an OLB??

It would be absolutely foolish of McDaniels to go after Sanchez.
The Broncos have a solid offense in place. They have talent and depth at OL, WR and TE, and they have a RB by committee (Buckhalter, Pittman, Young, Arrington, Jordan) that is very similar to the one McDaniels used nearly to perfection in New England. It does not make sense to bring in a project QB into this offensive system.
Orton is just fine at QB. He did a lot with very little in his years in Chicago, and gets dumped on more than he deserves. Simms is a solid back up plan. Remember, McDaniels wanted to bring in Simms after the Brady injury. The Broncos will be an above average offense with Orton or Simms.
On defense, Denver has jack$h!t. Their defensive line is best suited for a 4-3. They have no nose tackle, no stud ILB. With picks #12 and #18, they are in prime position to land players who will fit their defensive system to a T. Imagine a Broncos defense adding Raji and Maualuga.
If you're the Broncos, you use this bounty of picks and you draft a defense.
Hester looked pretty good this year. Orton just couldn't hit him deep. Olsen is good.
Issues on the OL? They have Orlando Pace playing LT, a 1st round pick (at LT) playing RT, two good guards, and a pro bowl center.
The real problem in Chicago is they were trying to play the run-run-run-chuckitdeep offense, and their QB was ill fitted for that...cutler isn't.
I just do not think Pace is the answer as he has missed 25 games over the last three season. Williams did not even start a single game last year and their two starters are gone (Browns sign OT John St. Clair) and (Bears announce retirement of OT John Tait). Between those two the started 194 games and now they need to replace it with a sophomore who has yet to start a game. The did sign Shaffer from the Browns...but the did not have a good OL in Cleveland. I agree that Kreutz and Garza are good but both over 30 and ?I am still not a big fan of Beekman.
I think their major needs are on Defense at DE, OLB and DB both safety and CB. The do need another receiver to throw to but I do totally agree that Hester is developing quite nicely as a WR but not yet a #1 guy IMO.

People do not realize that Cutler has Earl Bennett his favorite WR from Vandy, on the roster. Interesting.

Interesting I never made that connection. With the release of Booker and Lloyd is more effective in a west coast system they need a Mohamad of 2004 to play opposite Hester. Tory Holt maybe on their radar as they have been silent on the FA market.
Interesting conflicting rumors from CNNSI and The Sporting News.
According to CNNSI, Denver is eager to trade up to #8 with Jacksonville, possibly targeting Sanchez, Brian Orapko, BJ Raji or Tyson Jackson. With an extra 3rd from Chicago they could probably trade up from 12 to 8 and still keep 2nd and 3rd round picks.
However, according to The Sporting News, Jacksonville is desperate to trade down from the #8 spot but has gotten no offers. This seems strange to me, as they are a prime candidate for someone looking to trade up for Raji, Sanchez (if he falls past Seattle at #4), a pass rusher, or possibly even Josh Freeman.
Of course, the Sporting News report is by Mike Florio, so perhaps that explains it.

Whenever you have so many red chip prospects grading out so closely, it all comes down to which team locks onto which player.
Any trades would require that player to be available. So while most teams have contingencies in place to trade with other teams, it is doubtful that any trades take place until the draft in underway.
