I just believe that PSU really hasn't put high end talent into this league especially when you take into account the tradition of the school itself, one would expect more.
All I can say is that it's not PSU's fault that some GMs do insane things like draft Tony Sacca, Jimmy Kennedy and Michael Haynes high. These guys were questionable in the eyes of every PSU fan.

PSU fans are not rah-rah about Aaron Maybin either.

I truly believe that college football fans who watch these kids day in and day out sometimes have a better sense than the scouts and GMs who go to the combines and don't know their arse from their elbow.

This is precisely why I continue to defend guys like Ki-Jana Carter and Lavar Arrington, because they were electrifying on the field, and injuries ended their NFL careers. But as for some of the others?? If you go on KFFL, you'll see me pleading back in 2002 that we avoid Jimmy Kennedy by all means.

This year, I wouldn't take either Derrick Williams or Deon Butler either, but I would definitely spend a 7th rounder on Jordan Norwood. That kid is going to have an NFL career.

By the way, Kim Herring has had a fine career, and Drayton wasn't bad either.

Yes, Kim Herring for an R2, had a decent career, not great, but decent. Troy Drayton has stats very, very similar to Daniel Graham, Graham was definately a reach where he was taken, but Drayton was good value at his spot in R2, no complaints there, he did had a decent career in this league.

Thanks for your insights on these other PSU players, can you give us your true evaluation of Maybin and how you feel he would fit into our defense ?

He scares me because he can't play right away. He is not yet developed physically. he had one great year for PSU. That being said, he's young. He may turn into a terror of a speed rusher. The year before however Maurice Evans had just as good a year as Maybin had this year, and Evans fell back in his second year of play (Evans too declared early for the draft). Maybin is a big risk in the first round. He may turn out to be a good player in a few years, but beating Big Ten tackles with your ultra speed is one thing, playing in the NFL is another.

He has the frame to play a rush end for the Patriots, but he's not nearly big enough now. Rosevelt Colvin would actually be an apt comparison for him.
