It was a too big moment for a rookie

The Patriots have been overachievers the past two years. It doesn't have the talent to compensate for injuries, and it wins so much because it puts in 99% effort in the regular season and plays with terrific schemes to mask its deficiencies.

But in the playoffs a good team at 99% will not beat emotional, talented teams that play at 100%. It's what happened against the Giants in 2011 and the Ravens in 2012.

Apparently challenging for second year players too.

I thought I read that Chung made the wrong call. That's why he wasn't ready for the snap: he was expecting the ball to go to Mesko.

Hey, if during their preparations this week, they see something and they know when it is to be called, go for it!
If its Nate Ebner, so be it.
I trust that the play being called is the right now, it simply comes down to execution. I would never allow my current strategy to be determined by a play that occurred in 2010.

Play smart! Play aggressive! Execute!

Yup.

Patrick Chung May Not Have Been at Fault for Fake-Punt Mishap, Despite Taking Blame | Dennis and Callahan | NESN.com
Quote:
Patrick Chung was quick to take full responsibility for mishandling Sunday's fake-punt attempt, but he may have simply been doing so to protect his teammates and coach.

According to Dennis and Callahan, there could be another explanation for the broken play. If one examines the replay, it is clear that Chung's hands were not in position to receive the ball and that most of the linemen were blocking backward, not forward — indicating that nobody knew that the fake was coming except for long snapper Matt Katula. The fake-punt call should have been at Chung's discretion, but it seems as though Katula thought that he heard Chung call for it, when he had not.
Between Katula and Chung, Chung is the one still on the team.

I considered Denver a bye last year…never in the history of the NFL has a team had a weaker Divisional opponent (except the 2010 Jets and we stuck that up).
The Patriots have only 2 home playoff losses in THIRTY YEARS. To have one to the Jets makes it that much more painful. So yes, I will remember 2010 like 2006, 2007 and 2011.

Who will be his replacement? And I do agree. Just need a better replacement first.

We need a thread where those two argumentative guys criticize someone's argument and/or logic. That's why we all come to this board and pay $18 a year for the privilege. More pissing matches!

James Sanders was a better safety than Chung.

They'll find out Randy can't run consistently anymore. He'll drive [Tom] Brady and [Bill] Belichick crazy. This is just my personal opinion from what I saw: He's losing his legs. He's becoming an old man fast.
