I thought Brandon Lloyd would make more of an impact down the field. I know people don't like it when he's called a disappointment. He's still effective but he isn't who I was hoping he was.

The performance of Edelman was a surprise to me. His injury was not.
Bolden is a borderline surprise.

How is Trevor Scott a disappointment?

He's been ok on the field when he gets opportunities. They started Chandler Jones over him

Didn't really expect much from either Scott or Bequette.
Not all that suprised by Spikes play. When he played last year he was good.
Otherwise I'd agree with everything else.

This is a great list for a great bye week topic. Just a few nitpicks

1. Hard to see Trevor Scott being a disappointment. He has seemed to do quite well whenever he's gotten on the field. Certainly he played to expectations. The only complaint you might have is that he didn't get on the field as much as expect, but as 4th DE there aren't a lot of snaps. Your review would have been quite different if Chandler Jones hadn't started so fast.

2. Greg Salas? Was he even here long enough to be considered a failure. He got released because the Pats needed to make some roster moves unrelated to him personally, and got stolen by the Eagles before we could resign him to the PS. Disappointing that we won't have a 7th round pick in 2015, but how can he be a failure when he never took a snap on the field.

3. If I had done the list I would have added Fletcher Dowling, and Edelman to my disappointing list. These are 3 guys who I loved going into the season, but injuries kept them from fulfilling their promise. Edelman was particularly frustrating since he looked like he was really going to break out when he went down. It will be very interesting to see what happens with him this off season. Especially how the rest of the league thinks about him.

4. To my surprise list, I would have added Boldin, Tracy White, and Kyle Arrington.

Clearly just making the team is a surprise for and UDFA, but Boldin excelled in his opportunities to run the ball, and excelled at special teams.

Tracy White, is there because I have in the past been a big trasher of White when he played LB on the regular D. This year in the few time he's had the chance to be out there on the regular D, I thought he held his own quite well, and that surprised me.

Kyle Arrington, just when I thought my worst fears about Arrington were confirmed by his play on the outside in the first few games, he surprised me with is effective play on the inside, after Dennard replaced him as the outside CB.

Surprises:

Donald Thomas (UFA steps in for all pro switching sides and line doesn't miss a beat)
Chandler Jones (even number 1's are not instantly as effective or important)
Danny Woodhead (Faulk reincarnate)
Brandon Bolden (UFA with promise)

Disappointments:

Jeff Tarpinian (a step back)
Tavon Wilson (now behind a fading Chung? BB did not know better on this one)

I mostly agree, with a couple of caveats:

1. I went back and forth a bit on whether I'd classify Ninkovich as a surprise, so I can see where there's some debate there. He's been steady for the Pats, much as he was for several years prior, but it does warrant mentioning that he was a steady contributor at a new position (one where I thought that he would fail).

2. I don't think that Trevor Scott has been a disappointment. Jermaine Cunningham is better than him, but he is as advertised. Over the course of Cunningham's suspension, Scott stepped in and filled the void quite well. I can't really hold it against him that Cunningham was such a surprise.

Along similar lines, I don't know if we can really say anything, positive or negative, about Bequette at this point. All that we really know is that Scott, Francis and Cunningham are all currently better than him. Maybe I just wasn't that high on Bequette to begin with, because Francis the only one of those that surprises me even a little, and even that isn't a major surprise. Francis has been doing great work since training camp, so it's not even shocking that he'd pass Bequette on the depth chart.

3. I'd list Pryor as a disappointment/failure, although at this point I can't blame anyone for forgetting that he's a Patriot altogether. I feel bad for the guy- he can't even get on the field, let alone stay there. I'd also list Fanene as a failure, but again, easy to forget he was even a Patriot.

For how many games? The over/under has to be set at about 4.

He's shown enough to make him a cheaper re-sign, because his large volume of inactivity with limit his marketability. That's a good thing, since he's a good player on those rare occasions when he can suit up for more than two games in a month. I'm all for keeping him around on the cheap in case he can change that, but in no way would I want to depend on it.
