The day that the Pats IRed Edelman, they also released Shiancoe. That gave them two roster spots to fill. One was filled by re-signing Branch. Have they added anyone to take Shiancoe's spot?

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.

holding it open to move the new PR up from the PS is my guess
Agree, I suspect they are checking him out in practice to assure themselves of his judgment and unlikelihood of turning the ball over to SF deep in our territory.
Wes is unlikely to turn it over, but I'm sure the Pats would like to reduce his wear and tear.

nevermind. I only counted didn't look at the names. Cunningham is still listed on there
Except that isn't correct since Cunningham is suspended. Cunningham's suspension started on Game 12. It still has Games 13, 14 and 15, to go before he can return.
Maybe Bob Kraft will have a stadium promotion, like a Papa Ginos Ultimate Upgrade and a fan from section 305 will be upgraded to the active roster...
It would have to be someone for the 46 man roster as just putting someone on the 53 without having a need for them on the 46 is just bookkeeping.
So, PR is a thought, but WR in general is thin Lloyd, Welker, Branch, Slater. Maybe the PR/WR guy is a fit, but they have another WR on the practice squad too like Jeremy Ebert who was a draft pick and with us for training camp. Or Kamar Aiken who is BIG at 6'2" and 213 pounds.
SF 49ers have a very physical secondary and that isn't always great for us with Brandon Lloyd having difficulty with aggressive press coverage. It won't bother Welker, but Branch might struggle to get off the line. We don't have anyone to catch the quick-out screen like Edelman used to do. Maybe Kamar Aiken is that guy.
I would guess that the discrepancy has to do with Jermaine Cunningham's suspension, which still has 2 games to go.
I believe teams have until 4 PM today to activate someone in order to make them eligible to play tomorrow, though again, I'm not 100% sure. It seems possible that the Pats may go with who they currently have this week, unless the promote someone from the PS at the last minute.
