Not Wes' best hands day but those throws were off and he was diving for the balls. Why were they off? I believe partly because of game plan design. Houston is known for leaping DLs swatting down passes. The Pats game plan was for OLs to maintain contact with the defender, inhibiting max leaping and I believe that Brady was deliberately arcing high on throws for the same reason, to minimize swats which often turn into picks. He was just off on his usual practiced mechanics and missing the throws by inches as a result.

There were bad throws from Tom, but for instance, Welker dropped one that hit him right in the gut. As pointed out however, WW's woes began after he took that head shot on of the punt returns - downhill from there.

Wes had numerous drops yesterday, and he did have a couple of big ones against Miami too. I don't see why stating this fact makes the poster negative. I love Welker, but his best attribute is his consistency. Without Gronk, we need him to make more plays.

If missed connections on Brady-Welker underneath throws is what we're complaining about 15 weeks into the NFL season, I'll take it.

Mayoclinic was right, this defense was about to get good. And it is. Something just didn't add up. I understood why the defense sucked with Ihedigbo, Sterling Moore, Tracy White, etc. all playing key roles, but the personnel this season was improved from Day 1. We had great players at every level, we had fast players, we hit hard, we caused turnovers. At some point that has to turn into more consistent play.

Looks like it has turned the corner.

Let's hope Talib is OK - the overall depth of that secondary is much greater with him out there.

That's a good observation, as it was a couple passes were barely missed by a swatting Texans' paw.

One of those quick out passes in the backfield was a gainer to Wes ( or Vereen?) but was very close to being swatted and, potentially, returned the other way for 6 points.

These were obviously the downsides to the game for us.
I was so pissed at Francis for doing that. No reason to send himself flying over the pile that late.. That and his penalty were both ridiculous.. Hope he is benched next game, in all honesty...

Fells did a good job blocking, tonight. Shiancoe, well, He could be replaced and we wouldn't miss him..

ESPN showed him on the sideline in the 4th laughing with some other defensive players, he looked fine then.

He probably got a stinger and there was no point in putting him back in the game, it was a blowout and Dennard and surprisingly Arrington were playing well enough to give Talib a rest to make sure he's 100% for San Fran.

And he's been that way since his 2nd season. Yet, every year people have him as one of the guys on the bubble. Even this year when he was just given a new contract..

Slater is an ALL-PRO special team's player.. And there is something to be said for that.

Wes had 4 drops. There was a 5th one that was poorly thrown by Brady that Wes made a fantastic play just to get his hands on..

Wes is allowed to have an off game. It can't be just him stepping up when a guy like Gronk is out. You have to have guys like Hernandez, Lloyd, and Hoomanawanui (in his blocking) step up to pick up the slack.

And that is what happened..
