Default Colin Cowherd...anyone listening?

Is anyone listening to Colin Cowherd? He is admitting that he is a John Lynch guy, but he see's this move as a desparate move by BB.

He feels our back 7 is too slow for the Colts, Cowboys, Giants, etc.

I e-mailed Cowherd to let him know of Lynch's role as a S/LB and the fact that we have added a lot of speed at LB and in the secondary.

I like Cowherd and enjoy his show a great deal. But, this is as bad as the day he argued that Roethlisberger was a top QB in the NFL and then argued about how there are so few QB's. IMO this is why he views Roethlisberger so highly, there are so few QB's.

I'll be interested to see if he replies to me e-mail, esp. if he mentions it on air.

Not in the car yet, but I like Cowherd. He generally is spot on. But college football is his strength, he'll be the first to admit. His knowledge of the pros isn't nearly as deep. Though I'd say the bulk of the national media isn't going to know enough about the Pats schemes to know how they plan to use Lynch. In their defense, it is tough to follow all 32 teams that closely.

I don't think Cowherd understands that Lynch, while listed as a safety, is going to be brought in primarily on running downs. I'm happy with that as it seemed to suit him better in Denver last year. He's definitely lost a step and is a liability in coverage. However, the guy can still hit with the best of them so it makes sense to move him up to the LOS with the LBs to take a running back's head off.

I trust in BB. Colin Cowhead can pontificate all he wants he has NO idea what Bill will do with Lynch, and neither do we until it's revealed.

I doubt you'll get a response you're happy with. Writers that have their act together are more likely to respond well... but then again, you wouldn't be writing to them. If he responds at all, he is likely to be overly defensive about you pointing out that he is talking out his A_S_S

I heard the tail end of his Patriots talk. I don't know how signing John Lynch is a desperation move if he was signed as a back up and only a situational player. I also don't know how the back seven got slower. Meriweather and Mayo are upgrades in speed. If Hobson can learn the playbook at replaces Bruschi as the starter, so is he.

I think you can question the Patriots' secondary, but argue the back seven got significantly slower?

Cowherd said that Mayo won't even play, that BB never plays rookies... Seymour???

He argued for a second that you can't make a S into a LB, too small, etc. He never mentioned coverages, disguises, etc. He left it at that...perhaps to avoid admitting his mistake.

I don't think this is a desperation move by BB, but you can see what an outsider would say so. Lynch has been a free agent for a few weeks now, and the Pats bring him in right after Tank gets hurt.
