It's a shame he won't be able to take the consecutive playoff touchdown streak from Favre due to the Ratbirds last year. I hate that team and franchise with such passion.

I have never seen any QB play for stats and records like Drew Brees does. The fact that his consecutive game with a TD streak came to an end must be devastating for the poor guy.

Brady will end up breaking that meaningless record with utter indifference. Remember when Brees was tossing TD passes last season in garbage time with a few seconds left? haha.

I highly doubt Brady cares about the record, but it is his for the taking.

Brady is already tied with Brees for the most consecutive uninterrupted games with a Touchdown Pass at 43.

Johnny Unitas' much heralded record of 47 games was actually interrupted when he missed two games (November 9 and 16, 1958) due to injury (History: Unitas' record). His "uninterrupted" best was actually 26 consecutive games.

Brees did not play in Week 17 of the 2009 Season when he was rested before the Playoffs, taking exactly 11 games off of his own "uninterrupted" record and leaving him tied with Brady if you count from his next regular season game forward (Drew Brees Career Game Log - Pro-Football-Reference.com).

Sorry, but I can't help but feel that if Peyton Manning were somehow involved in this, the mediots would be screaming that the only record that "really, really counts" is the record for uninterrupted games with a TD Pass and that he would set it with a TD pass next week.

Nah. That's way off base.

I'll grant that there are "meaningless" records in the NFL as in all sports, but this is not one of them; Brady won't be at all indifferent to holding it, if he does. And, I doubt he thinks it's his "for the taking." 12 more games in a row with a TD pass at the age of 35 and 36 is no mean feat. If he gets the record, he will have earned it.

Brady is as competitive as all get-out (he still talks about not being the starting QB on his high school team for crying out loud!) and Unitas' record is one of those rare records that stood for over half a century. It's an important record and one that people thought would never be broken...almost (but not quite) in the same class as DiMaggio's 56 consecutive game hit streak.

It would be awesome to Brady to have it and there's no shame or devaluing of Brady's excellence to just come out and say it.

That said, #1 is Don Shula's record of wins (328). That one, at least, looks secure for a while. [Even BB is about 150 wins back.]

Absolutely. That's why it's such an achievement and why Johnny U's record stood for over half a century.

An awful lot of things go into stringing together that many games with a TD pass; weather, injury, dropped passes, great catches, penalties, the health of the O-line and, of course, not a little luck.

Add to that that we're talking about a guy in his mid thirties, not mid twenties, and it will be an amazing accomplishment of Brady pulls it off.

Agreed 100%. Both records are pretty awesome; if you know anything about the game, you hold these two records and the people who hold them in great respect.

I lost respect for Shula when he publicly chimed in with his asterisk talk during Crygate. The ironic part was when he did it he used the loss of a 1st round pick by the Commish as the main reason, completely forgetting that his undefeated 72 team has the same exact taint. Woops!

If Bill Belichick wasn't winning Lombardi's for Tuna Crap with the Giants, he probably would be looking at that record too. Belichick could also have taken the Shula route (now known as a Polian) and grabbed a seat on the competition committee to have the rules slanted in favor of his team. Instead, Belichick let's all the losers come up with any rules they want and he coaches his team accordingly.
