Sterling Moore mustve done something really really wrong behind the scenes.
Martin was with the team in preseason.

He was waived because he sucks. It's pretty easy to understand. Bill isn't trying to confuse us every time he makes a move.

Knowing the system doesnt mean much if you can't cover anyone.
Rivera is here for special teams.
This all makes perfect sense.

This is a great sign. Martin was on the Packers in 2010 and the Giants last year. Obviously he is attempting to collect championship rings from as many teams as possible.

This looks to be addition by subtraction. Martin may not see much play in the regular defense, but Moore was a big play waiting to happen...and not in a good way. Just need the players on the team to get/stay healthy so that Arrington can be limited in his snaps.

The fact that Silvestro was also released from Practice Squad makes me thing we're either gonna sign one of our work out players or demote someone (like Malcolm Williams).

In any case, on the active roster, we released CB Sterling Moore and LB Bobby Carpenter for CB Derrick Martin and LB Mike Rivera.

One thing to note about both players is that both are viewed in the mold of primary Special Teamers. Where both Sterling and Bobby offered actual depth in case of injury / need, Martin and Rivera offer little to none.

Relating to Martin and the CB position, this makes me think that the Pats will move McCourty back to CB now that Chung and Gregory are healthy. Our top 4 CBs will be McCourty, Dennard, Arrington, and Cole. Martin will be ST and emergency fill in.

At LB, Carpenter was viewed as depth for Hightower. Now that he is healthy, he was no longer needed.

I expect more refinement to come now that these moves have been made.

I knew he was bad, but admittedly not THIS bad. Wow. Especially considering Cole has a hammy and those can be very tricky. When Arrington and a complete unproven like Derrick Martin are better options that says alot.

I thought Moore was darn good in 2011, even before the Evans play. So if he really is having a terrible year, another example of our DB coaches ruining guys.

No, it's an example of you misjudging a player. Moore's never been good.
