Default Woods: Anyone else having a change of heart?

It seemed like a lot of people were down on Woods this Spring. When Darth Bill compared one of the draftees to Woods, a lot of folks said it was just a physique comparison. Now it looks like Woods is primed to start being a real factor and if I had to wager, I'd say a game-changer.

Anyone else rethinking their spring position on Monsieur Woods?

Agreed. Woods just seems lost at times. However Mr. Crable seems as if he may hold more promise.

Woods is definitely in the mix. you need a little different talent and size to play R OLB and L OLB. In the right mike vrabel is excellent and woods will be very good as you are mostly engaging a RT or FB or TE.

Crabel can be a 3rd down rush end and is good in droping back because he is lean and tall. IF he bulks up he will lose speed which will negate his coverage skills. But he can be the crucial RUSH L OLB with a little weight.

also , i want to see jarvis green in the end in 3rd down with Crabel dropping into coverage.

I still have a hard time with the SB with that fumble lost and why he wasn't in there on that last drive as pass rush help could have been used.

I think people were very unfair in saying Woods was not coming along.

I think he has done nothing but get better since he has gotten here and it appears as though he is making a big leap this year as opportunity presents itself.

IMO he will be the third outside LB in the rotation this year.

I think a lot of people were unfairly down on him for the missed fumble recovery in the SB. But if you actually tortured yourself and watched it you may have noticed it wasn't as bad as it seemed. the ball was under his belly maknig it seem like he had possesion and most people think the ball was under him and there is no reason not to come up with it. And to some degree I agree with that but if you look closely it appears as though he is unaware that the ball wound up under him like that and than people start jumping on the pile and he loses it. It sucked sure and he probably should have had it but he never really had possesion so he didn't really lose it.

Wow, I'm surprised at these responses. After his failed fumble recovery I wanted to murder him. But everything I've seen out of the kid over his career is that he's always been willing to work his butt off and the coaches have always wanted to give him a chance. Besides the fumble, he has made the most of almost all of his opportunities, and I saw starting OLB potential in that first game (but I won't get ahead of myself, it was just one preseason game).
I find it foolish to say "back up and special teamer and nothing else."

I won't even address the SB fumble. I was at that end of the field celebrating when everyone saw the Pats had recovered that ball. Oops.

Anyway, I'll admit I'm coming around. I had PW marginalized as a ST and no more, but he showed some good burst off the edge in Baltimore, but again, just the preseason.

I'd still love to see some of those pressures become sacks, for the whole LB crew, not just Woods. It just seems the Pats lack that "Closer" on the edge who can get the quick pressure AND the sack. LBs always seem to just get a hand on the QB who then steps up and gets off a pass.

It took Bruschi a few years to come into his own...

It took McGinest a few years

Vrabel didn't start in Pittsburgh

I like Woods' development, its going uphill.

Like his development. Each year does a little more and looks a little better. Hopefully he will be in the rotation on the outside this year. I compare it TBC, hopefully better. But he has worked hard and has learned well.

I never really was down on him though.
