They did okay. I think because they only gave up 1 sack, we're over-rating the performance. Had Brady not thrown away the ball for intentional grounding, it could have easily been 3 sacks.

Brady didn't have much time on the first intentional grounding in a crucial spot, and while Brady had some poor throws as well, there were also times he couldn't step into the throw because someone had been pushed back.

The OL also struggled to open many holes in the running game today. Again, against a top-notch defense. But I wouldn't say it was a stellar performance.

Again, this is about a much maligned offensive line against the number 1....not number 10....not number 5.....number 1 defense in the NFL.
The Patriots had almost 500 yards offense against the number 1 defense in the country who normally gives up 258 yards per game. That's almost double.

You don't get that many yards against the number 1 defense in the NFL without a darn good performance by the offensive line. That is the defintion of stepping up.

The o-line couldn't run block. They were pretty good in pass protection considering the defense and situation, but they weren't perfect.

The secondary was horrendous outside of McCourty. Front seven was subpar and it seems like only Jones can get pressure consistently. They should blitz the LBs more, they're all good at it, might as well since the safeties will give up big plays anyway.

I want to thank you for a great effort today and offer my apologies for most of your teammates/coaches who failed you and your fine efforts today.

Mr. Jones, you had 9 tackles (team high), 2 sacks (team
high), 3 QB hits (team high), 1 forced fumble (tied for team high), and 1 tackle for loss.

Offensive line, you, after being much maligned all of the pre-season, stepped up and held the number 1 ranked defensive team that had 16 sacks so far this season to just 1 sack and gave Tom Brady more than enough time in the pocket.

Outside of a few of your teammates, your effort was wasted and you deserve so much more.

If it means anything, most Patriots fans appreciate your fine play and hope your teammates/coaches will be worthy of it in the future.

Sincerely,

RI Patriots Fan
I'm sure that the OL and Mr. Jones take great comfort in your apologies.

And Tom, the next time you get into the red zone, please make sure you come out with points (a couple of FG's would have made the difference), instead of throwing int's and being called for intentional grounding.

Then the defense and the young secondary won't have to take all the blame on message boards.

Sincerely,

PATSNUTme

ROFL!

Thank you for the laugh of the day.

Brady passed 58 times, the OL gave up 5 QB hits against the #1 defense in the nfl and OL didn't do their job???

This might be a inflammatory question tonight but I didn't see the game (hence disappointed to read Brady's bad mistakes) and haven't researched into it: when was the last that we won coming from behind?
