A little perspective for this morning.

Watch and remember the ship-jumping that will be taking place this week over two losses on last second kicks to two teams that are 5-1 combined (oh, and btw, that one loss was on the road, by one point.).

3 out of the last 5 SB champions were wild card teams. And the last two times the Pats have made the Superbowl they were a combined 29-3 in the regular season, had home field advantage throughout the playoffs and a first round bye. It doesnt matter how good you are playing in week 3 (although I would like the Pats to be playing good) but I am more interested in how they are playing at the end of the season. Anyone who watched the Jets/Phins game yesterdays saw how bad those two teams are, they are clearly not in the class of the Pats. Same goes for Buffalo. The Pats should still go at least 5-1 in the division, win around 11 games and make it into the playoffs. As long as they are playing their best football heading into the post season, I could care less what happened in the first few weeks of the season.

No one doubts that Baltimore is one of the elites of the league. Arizona with their record over the last ten games is trying to join that group. They put a beat down on Philadelphia yesterday 27-6 that was not even that close and was 24-0 at halftime.....

I'm telling you, the next 4 games won't be easy:

at Buf
vs Den
at Sea
vs NYJ

But I think the Pats go 4-0 in those games to get them to 5-2. Beat the Rams (another not-so-easy game, it would appear) to get to 6-2 and everything will be fine.

I think the Pats finish 12-4 and probably get the #2 or #3 seed, it might appear at the moment. This loss hurts them in a tiebreaker situation with the Ravens, and Houston looks dominant in a terrible division right now.

I had this game as a Loss before the season started so I'm not upset they lost but rather HOW the team lost. Regardless of the Refs which were a huge part of it The Offense seemed to sputter in the last quarter and couldn't pull one out. I'm expecting at least 2 more losses this season.

Historians, when is the last time the Pats have won a playoff game on the road? Because we're going to have to.

I mean yeah the team should be fine and easily make the playoffs, maybe even earn a bye if they play that well. But like I said in the post game thread:

I'll just say the thing that concerns me is both the offense and defense inability to close out big games. Last year they couldn't do it against the Ravens on either side though they were given the chance, luckily the Ravens shanked a very short FG, bailing us out after drove down the field with EASE. We couldn't do it against the Giants, drive stalled after Welker's drop right before NY marched right down the field to win it. And once again last night, after our 4th down stop the offense had 2 chances to seal it but couldn't maintain drives.

And obviously on defense, how many actually had faith they'd keep Bmore from moving right down the field? I have zero faith in that secondary in that situation, that was WAY too easy and reminiscent of Eli on the SB's last drive. Just seems that in the clutch this team cannot get it done anymore. The DB's we have especially inspire no confidence in being able to make that stop in the closing minutes.

I am not a fan of Baltimore, which probably falls right after the Jets on my "least liked" list, but the officiating makes this a tough one to read. The phantom calls and lack of calls may well have determined this game.

With that said, I have not liked the calls, both offensive and defensive, when playing with a lead over the past two seasons. The Pats seem to be playing not to lose with a lead instead of going for the knockout punch. I would much rather see them lose on the attack than hope not to give up the points by the time the clock runs down.

Overall, I believe the Pats have what it takes to beat any team, and this game is just a loss on the road to a tough team in a tough environment. At 3 games into a 16 game season, just build on this lesson and move on to Buffalo.

I am concerned that the Pats' have yet to show they can beat a good team, right now every power ranking will have the Cards and Ravens in the top 10, maybe the top 5. The Pats played both down to the wire and could have won both games. It is the quirk of the schedule that the Pats faced two of the four best teams they are going to face back to back.

The Cards are a surprise team. So people overplayed last week's loss. This week, it doesn't look nearly as bad as it looked last week. The Cards are legit. At least at this point of the season.
