seeing questions re Waters: NE offered him *significant* pay raise, presumably as last-ditch effort, and he turned it down. this is on him.
Sometimes, even more money won't get it done. Can we stop blaming Belichick for being cheap, now?

I don't think this instance was ever about being cheap.

Time to move on, I think we can all agree Waters won't be a Patriot this year.

Me neither. I know a lot of people did, though. Didn't help that the Herald, I believe, originally reported that the Pats wanted Waters to take a pay cut, as opposed to a salary cut but with large per-game bonuses.

I think maybe the team did not give Waters what he wanted earlier in the year and now he sees the line is a mess and doesn't want to give them another chance to come begging for his services now.

Let him be.....we move on.

If reported as true then it should be interesting to see the total of Waters' fines come the end of the season.

Call me spiteful, but I'd have preferred a new, younger guy to coach up anyway.

Throwing in old Vets to fix problems is usually a bad idea.

The Patriots have been overachievers the past two years. It doesn't have the talent to compensate for injuries, and it wins so much because it puts in 99% effort in the regular season and plays with terrific schemes to mask its deficiencies.

But in the playoffs a good team at 99% will not beat emotional, talented teams that play at 100%. It's what happened against the Giants in 2011 and the Ravens in 2012.

That's about the only consolation prize that we have to look forward to, but I will admit that I am curious.
