No question the Jets make out by getting younger. One thing you know about Hunter is that he isn't going to get better. He is what he it. Smith offers at least the hope of "potential"
The Rams dump his contact, though I'm not sure who makes out there
To be fair, if I were a Jets fan (*shudder*) I'd be happy about this move. Imagine if Sergio Brown had still been starting games for the Pats this preseason, with disastrous results. If the Pats traded him for somebody else's sub-par safety we'd all sigh in relief.
But as for Smith being young...sadly, no football player with such a serious concussion history can really be considered young.

That's apparently so, especially after reading about the other hotshot RT cut that averages 7 penalties a game.
My idea, possible or not, was to hope for a guy with only a little tread left on the tires for guidance and stability. I think Cannon will be fine in time.

Can you imagine the conversation...
Rams GM: I hear you are looking for a tackle?
Tanny: Gee, do you think? Hunter is a dumpster fire and now we are starting a guy we found wandering the streets of Cortland.
Rams GM: What do you think of Jason Smith?
Tanny: Gawd no! He is terrible and one head shot away from forgetting which sport he is playing!
Rams GM: But your fans don't know that. We are never on TV and when they Google the guy, they'll see he was a #2 overall pick in 2009...you know just ahead of that stiff you have running your offense with a fear of the end zone.
Tanny: I guess. But I'm not giving up anything for him. I mean I won't even give you used footwear that Rex even finds disgusting.

for a player to player evaluation; the jets may be slightly better off w/ smith as their backup rather than hunter;
But was that worth burning up 1.5M of (i believe it was) 4M cap space.
if their wrs suck so bad; i thought they might try for stallworth or gaffney; but if they have no cap space left - Gotta love it.
