Default OT: Percy Harvin Wants Out

According to NFL.com, Percy Harvin has requested a trade out of Minny. This is very interesting to me as a Pats fan because there was a bunch of talk a few years ago about how the Pats wanted this kid really bad and how Childress nabbed him as sort of a slap in the face to our BB. I'm certainly NOT suggesting that there will be any impact to the Patriots. This is just funny to me because of the relationship (or lack thereof) between BB and the jettisoned Childress. Unfortunately for Harvin, it aint happenin,' kid.

That requires believing Brad Childress, for whom BB has absolutely no respect.

His migraine and injury issues alone pretty much tell me don't trade for him. Not to mention where would we use him anyways? Well besides kick returner which would be a huge cost for us to get him just for that. Then again how much did the Rats spend to get Failbow again?

Putting it out there - what would you guys think of Welker for Harvin? I'm not advocating it since I love Welker and hope to keep him for the remainder of his career.

This would have to be based on a few things.

1)If the Pats don't get a sense that they will find a middle ground with Welker on contract negotiations, we're going to lose him next year anyway. Plus, we'd get younger at the position and gain an explosive kick returner which we've sorely lacked for awhile now.

2)Harvin would take the money that has been on the table for Welker, or less.

Harvin is an Urban Meyer product so BB would get a good insight into him and whether he is worth the risk. Similar to the Hernandez situation in my opinion.

The big issue is the migraines. You can't pay a player that randomly misses games which I think would ultimately rule out Harvin for BB since he likes consistency in his week to week planning.

Migraines? Seroiusly?

No thank you. That's the kind of injury/ailment.. that could prop up at any time.

The Patriots have been overachievers the past two years. It doesn't have the talent to compensate for injuries, and it wins so much because it puts in 99% effort in the regular season and plays with terrific schemes to mask its deficiencies.

But in the playoffs a good team at 99% will not beat emotional, talented teams that play at 100%. It's what happened against the Giants in 2011 and the Ravens in 2012.
