I have a suggestion for the bleeding hearts out there that always seem to think these guys are being taken advantage of unfairly by the meany owners: Learn what a contract is. It's an agreement by two parties that can and will be enforced legally if need be.
I'm not in favor or against either party for the bolded comment. It takes two tango. The point I find interesting is the positioning of either party given different performance outcomes.

It certainly IS commendable that he went back to get his degree, and as I recall, he also delayed getting his hip surgery the year after his injury while his efforts were geared towards getting his degree, and that also contributed to him reporting to camp underweight and not ready to play football.
Now NFL players get paid big bucks, but there is a price that comes with it, and if you no longer want to pay the price, then you have no right to expect the money to keep coming in.
Good luck in your future endeavors Ty, but I suspect excelling in the NFL, and getting a commensurate paycheck, is not part of your future.

Re: Ty Warren not happy with Broncos request to cut his pay
I guess I don't understand why the NFL players don't try to get their degree before and after their NFL career. I don't agree with the way Ty handled his degree situation. Patriot's gave him good contract extension and he made getting his degree higher priority than fulfilling his contract obligations.
Re: Ty Warren not happy with Broncos request to cut his pay
I agree with the captain. He's clearly going to be cut. Its not a matter of if, but when. There's no harm in bringing him back in and kicking the tires. Now that he's a college graduate he might be smart enough to realize that $1MM is more than he'd make for working 6 months anywhere else.
Of course he'd have to be health and in great shape. We heeded to draft a 3-4 DE, and we didn't. Now if Ty is healthy we can have one we know can do the job, on the cheap for a year, and draft one next year. For Ty will be a chance to come home and chase one more ring before moving on to the next phase of his life.....graduate school.
Re: Ty Warren not happy with Broncos request to cut his pay
Ty Warren was a great player.... until he got the big contract. Since then footbally has been really low on his priority list. Considering the ammount of money Warren has beeen paid over the last few years for absoltuely nothing, he certainly shouldn't be pissed at what the Broncos are proposing. I doubt the Pats bring him in even for the vet minimum, and I don't blame them.

agreed, Ty left poorly, He could have waited to get his degree, his contract was structured so that the off season workouts would be well compensated so that as the vet leader he would be there. He then needed surgery and put it off so that he would be unavailable during the playoff run.
After missing the offseason, he should have had the surgery when the pats asked. He worked hard, got his payday then did not put the same dedication
to the team that he did to earn the contract.
