Re: Patriots sign former Raiders pass rusher Trevor Scott
Interesting comments from the ESPN AFCW reporter Bill Williamson
- care of Mike Reis
Quote:
"I wouldn't be surprised, 2-3 years down the road, if people are asking 'Where did they get that guy from?' He has great potential and was terrific his first two years, then he got hurt and it took him a while to get going again. I could see him being a real good rotational rusher.
"He's a high effort guy. There wasn't a lot of stability in the organization, he had a few different coordinators, so he was lost in the shuffle in a bit. Now, with the new regime which has been busy getting the cap in order and other things, they maybe didn't have as much time to address players like Scott. Chaz Schilens, the receiver who signed with the Jets, was in a similar type of situation.
"I think he could be perfect for Bill Belichick's defense as a rotational guy. He's not an every-down guy, but he has some real natural pass-rushing burst. He could be a potential steal."

Sounds promising - Can't hurt. As long as Anderson and/or Carter remained unsigned, I will be worried about replacing the 20 sacks and most of whatever pass rush we had last season. I shouldn't be alone in this worry. This signing is positive but 20 sacks is a LOT to replace
