Default Slater expected to re-sign today, Pats working on a few other deals

Michael Lombardi of NFL Network tweeted this but can't get a link to work so I linked to KFFL. (it's where I saw it anyway) Click on the Lombardi tweet link and he also says the Pats are working on other deals.

Good to hear.. Slater has been an outstanding special team player outside of the 2 fumbles as a rookie..

I still hold out hope he'll be more than just a valuable special teamer one day, but I'm happy to have him back in that capacity. He's one of those players worth more to the Patriots than he would be for another team, so it's probably a good deal for both parties.

Great news on Slater as long as he's never used as a returner again

Hopefully that means the Patriots have confidence that Mallet could continue to develop (though I'd think they might bring in a veteran QB in camp as well if Hoyer were not here)

Patriots make minor move to open 2012 free agency, re-sign LB Niko Koutouvides to 1-year deal, reports ESPNBoston's Mike Rodak.
Locking up the ST players first?

oh yea, don't you just love having the worst return teams in nfl history? Maybe we can get lucky and they'll find someone that can make it to the 22 yard line every time instead of just the 20...
