Re: If you are having SB guests, passing out this memo is strongly encouraged
I hear all of you who can't stand being around loud crowds of people who wouldn't know Tom Brady from Marsha Brady. It is so frustrating. I just want to enjoy the last football game of the season, no matter who is playing and it is difficult enough to get into the game with the longer commercials, halftime, all of the nonsensical build up, etc. To have a room full of fools talking about their upcoming whatevers just annoys the piss out of me.
My aunt offered to have us over for the game on Sunday...the same home where Super Bowl 42 was viewed. I don't mind the people who are usually there, most watch the game and are quiet during the play. There are a few with a good, solid understanding of football so there is good discussion. We watched Super Bowls 31, 38, 39 together (I was in college for 36). Some of us actually watched Super Bowl 20 together.
Out of principle, though, I had to decline. Too much poor mojo in that house. Instead, my wife and I are staying home. She knows what she is in for. We've been together since 1999. She's seen it all. She'll watch enough to know what is going on and will even ask if it is ok to talk.
The conundrum for me is our son's bedtime is 7:15PM. He is entrenched in this routine so I can't skip it and leave it to my wife. This is going to really interfere with my watching the game...

Unfortunately I live with the same roommates as I did in '07. Unfortunately, like in '07, we will be having a Super Bowl party again. And it's unfortunate for anyone who tries to sit in my seat when I get up to get a beer/smoke a cigarette.
EDIT: It should be noted that my roommates are both Giants fans.

Stay away from parties and people who drink too much during the "game"..
Big decision stay home with my wife, a huge fan, or go to an uncle's house and watch it there.. either location provides minimal distraction, and minimal stupid conversation.

I have a family room and a living room in my house. After SB42, I switched the rooms. The old family room (where the TV used to be) had to much bad joo-joo in it. The new family room has seen nothing but football joy. I just hope the Pats win or I'll need to buy a different house because I'm out of rooms after this.

Even a girly mon beer like coors lite will bast you before 18
May I suggest you set up a thread jays52 Drunk Blogs the SB?
Although I intend to avoid the Debbie Downer game thread here I would actually pay to read your drunk blocking (annotated by beer #) of the SB on my laptop. Wicked Pissah!

You've just articulated what would be my "Doomsday Scenario" as far as Patriots SB viewing experiences go.
I can't imagine how you can get through it, but will be sending positive thoughts your way on Sunday. Good news is if the Pats win they'll wish they watched the game somewhere else.

Time to man up, go hetero and get new roommates. It's not too late!

I watch Patriots Super Bowls the way they are meant to be watched -- ALONE and in my sports bunker. I don't even watch the playoff games in public or in mixed company.
