It's a ncie gesture to his teammates.
Would you rather he not talk to any of them?
Do you expect him to spend 24/7 on football? It's not like this took more than 30 minutes of his time -- maybe even less since he probably has someone who makes the purchases on his behalf.
Obviously everyone would rather Ocho have been a probowl WR, but for whatever reason that hasn't happenned; and its not for lack of effort -- lack of effort would've gotten him cut. Either his skills have diminished, or he's not a good strict route runner, or he can't understand the playbook -- all issues the team should've realized prior to signing him, and perhaps issues the team could've worked around -- if its a playbook issue, would it really hurt to have one guy who has a simplified, no route options, playbook?
As I and others have said through this year, the problem with judging him (or any other player) is that we just don't know WHAT he was asked to do as part of the game plan, or on any specific play.
Several of the passes that TFB threw to him this year were off, and about half of those were when he was VERY open. The blame isn't completely on him for those.
It's also quite possible that Ocho & Branch are being used to stretch the field and take defenders away from the middle in order to free up Wes, and the TE's. Of course, if the TE's and Welker are covered, then that DOES help out the other WR's. But Brady still has to make those throws, and for whatever reason, he's been going in and out of rhythm this entire year.
If Belichick see fit to keep him around, then he must be doing something positive for the team. Coach B doesn't keep players around when it's obvious they cannot or will not contribute.
Let's see what happens after the season wraps up and the player and position evals are done.

He just spent 0.005% of his salary on those beats. That's like us buying 5 dozen donuts for our 53 co-workers. Not that big of a monetary sacrifice, but a nice gesture none the less.
Nice gesture by Ocho. He really has done everything asked of him to be a good teammate. He's ne of the reasons I would like to see the Pats bring the SB home.
My preference is the Bose QC3. I absolutely love them. Pricey but worth the cost in the long-term. Hear same things about Beats .... Overpriced and performance isn't here.
If you follow him on twitter you will notice last night he asked a random follower that lived near Foxboro to pick him up at his house and drive him to dinner.

Gotta love the let's spread the blame to Tommy rationale... And Belichick does keep players around when it's obvious they cannot or will not contribute. AD says hi. Bill assesses his options and it he can't replace you with a better player or get compensation for disguarding you or if he's sunk a chunk of Robert $$ into you and he's basically upside down against the cap where you're concerned. He only cuts you then if he has no choice because you're causing him more damage on the roster than off it. Chad has been, in the immortal words of Evelyn Lozada, a non-mf'ing factor on the road to a Superbowl. He will decide how he chooses to deal with that as he re-evaluates his roster sometime after February 5th.
Maybe he decided that since he hasn't done anything to actually earn his play-off money, he would give it back to the people that did.
All joking aside, a really nice gesture by Ochocinco. And I know it hasn't worked out the way we hoped, but I wonder if we do cut him or give him a full off-season and training camp to see if it makes a difference.
The majority of his compensation this year was on a $4.75M signing bonus to be spread out over 3 years, so it is a sunken cost and a hit on the cap for the next few years anyways. He was kind of thrown into an offense that was way beyond anything he had seen with the Bungles, so maybe a proper off-season and some throwing time with Tom will make a difference. It won't hurt to keep him around for the next training camp.
