He'll be the primary nickel back, so somewhere around 60% of the defensive snaps.

I don't think we'll see him as much as we think. It looks like BB is trying to get all of our "best" DBs on the field at the same time regardless of what position their playing. Based on the teams in the playoffs in the AFC we are going to be in our base defense against anyone except maybe the Steelers. Everyone else uses pretty conventional sets. We probably won't rely on the sub defense and nickel very much until the Super Bowl if we make it there and end up against a passing/spread you out team like the Saints or Packers.

At first I really wasn't crazy about the idea in a big-game setting, but after watching Edelman more and more (yesterday in particular) I am really starting to like the idea.

He brings speed to the table, can execute a tackle well, and is probably just as good on coverage as anyone else they could currently throw in there, at least as the 3rd corner.

Off topic, I really liked the utilization of S.Moore again though. I am no secondary analysis expert, as I haven't played the position since 6th grade, lol--but to me it seems as though he has quick hands and instincts. Both of those INT's yesterday were nice, in all seriousness. You've got to love someone just outright taking the ball away from the WR like that.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of D.McCourty in the very back end again, but I'm not absolutely sure about the chances of that happening. There are several good questions for the playoff future of the secondary.

They trust him more than some of the other options. Totally different positions : but what is the number of defensive snaps for Edelman vs Guyton ? Who does BB trust more right now ?

Nickel. Best we've got. And I agree with posters asking for more Moore.

The guy can definitely tackle. He just needs to take better angles sometimes!

I do think we will see more of Moore and less of Edelman next game, though.

TONS of questions in regards to the playoff version of the secondary...

--Was the McCourty to safety move permanent? At least for the rest of the 2011 season?

--Will we see McCourty in a base role as a CB, then switching to a safety in subpackages?

--Will Edelman play the nickle slot? Will he be a dime CB? When he entered in the 4th series, I believe he played a straight 41 snaps. That's a long way from his previous season high of 19.

--How much of Ihedigbo will we see? He didn't seem to play too much on Sunday at all.

--Will Antwaan Molden continue at outside/straight CB?

--How much of Sterling Moore will we see? I have a feeling that many (like myself) want to see a continuation of the Moore experiment, yet I'm not sold that Belichick feels the same as we do. I think he'll be rotated at times, but I just have a feeling that we won't see as much as we'd like.

--If Moore plays CB, does Arrington continue at nickle with Molden on the other side? Back to the Edelman question...

--Nate Jones? Where does he fit in? Dime CB?

--Chances of 3 safety big nickle packages???

It seems like we know absolutely nothing about the playoff future of the secondary, besides the concrete position of Patrick Chung.

We also know that McCourty and Arrington will play, we just don't know specifically where, although I'd think that both will be straight CB's in the base package; we can also assume that the above mentioned will certainly be rotated in/out of subpackage roles...but there are still a TON of questions.

Does Belichick even know? Is he attempting to disguise our secondary to possibly make it more difficult on the tape and gameplanning?

My guess is we see several groupings of different nickle and dime personnel, based on what is working, therefore leaving many questions unanswered up until the divisional round game on the 14th., and even then I'd expect the unanswered questions to continue all throughout the game.
