Default Do we really want a Bye?

With the Texans losing tonight, our chances of getting a bye are much greater.

I'm of two minds on this question though. I know, I know.. having a bye lets players heal up and gives more prep time for the next opponent. IMO though, our D needs all the real game experience it can get, and in that case we wouldn't want a bye.

Our O obviously is just fine, but the D... man they are a sieve. And with so many new players on the D, I just think that maybe having a bye would not help so much, and may make them get rusty with two weeks off.

After thinking it over though, I suppose a bye would be more beneficial than no bye if just for the reason(s) that:

a: players get to rest and heal up
b: more game planning time
c: why risk being one and done in the first round

Even with all those solid reasons for a bye... I still get the feeling that an extra week off would be bad for the team, I don't know ... just a gut feeling. What do you all think?

Yes, yes we do. Let our opponent get beat up the week before then have to come to the Razor where we've had time to rest up and prepare.

This is an absolute no-brainer: Why play three games instead of two to get to the Super Bowl? Plus, without the bye your final two games likely would be away (if you're lucky to play them), which makes the odds even longer.

I don't think playing an extra week and possibly losing someone like Kyle Arrington or Rob Gronkowski is going to give the team a better shot to make it to the Super Bowl.

At the end of the day, part of the outcome of sporting events are related to circumstances outside of the control of anyone, let alone the teams playing.

The only part the team can control is putting itself in the best possible position to win games. Getting a week off to heal (and avoid a chance at elimination) at the end of the season has got to be high on the list of things that give a team a better chance to win, regardless of what has happened in recent history.

Don't forget that a coin that just landed on heads 10 times in a row still has a 50% chance of coming up tails the next time.

P.S. This defense has had 14 weeks to 'get better'. I don't know how many of us can say that it has. I don't think one extra week of live action is going to make the difference.

The fewer games the defense is exposed, the better

The fewer games Brady has to play out of his mind, the better

The fewer games BB has to come up with a clear scheme advantage, the better
