With another year of mileage on their tires, value offers. I can see both being gone for better money elsewhere.

Well.......they age one year

The rest is a guessing game

My worry is more about re-signing Welker than any other player on the roster heading into 2012

If we stick with the 4-3, I'd like to keep both. However, if we go back to the 3-4 Carter will want to leave for a team that utilizes the 4-3. I'd re-up Anderson even if we use 3-4 and use him as a situational pass rusher. Much like he is this year. We'll have to wait and see how the rest of the season plays out to see how this front 7 performs.

Well since they refused to draft any young pass rushers you either delve into free agency or hope a rookie can perform. More poor planning by BB. Expect a very similar defense next year.

I appreciate the incisive analysis and concern expressed by you Jets fans but the Patriots will somehow manage to continue to excel without your guidance. I suggest that you instead focus on your Jets team's many needs.

Yup. I fully expect us to be 3-12 next year...

Even if the team went back to the 3-4, I could see BB trying to keep them around for the sub packages. I could also see the players, especially Carter, seriously considering it as a way to extend their careers.

I think there is a good chance Carter and Anderson will be back in modest deals. Carter is at an age that he isn't going to get more than an one to two year deal with modest base and incentives. I think Anderson will get a modest multiple year deal. The Pats are not going away from 4 man front subpackages no matter if they go back to a 3-4 base. They both could be at least situational players.

I'm loving what we're getting out of Carter/Anderson this year, but in a way it reminds me of TBC and Bodden... two talented guys who came here on 1 year prove-it type of deals after subpar years. They tore it up for one year with us, we locked them up in multi-year higher money deals, then they did very little.

Not saying that will happen with Carter or Anderson, but if the Pats decide to go another direction I don't think it necessarily means we're going to miss out on another double-digit sack year from either of them.
