when one breaks a Mike Ditka TE record you know you have somebody real special.
EXTEND THE BEAST 6 YRS WOULD BE NICE we have him for 2 more.... so the ext would be an added 5 yrs
sign him sooner rather than later.
he will be a STEAL when the future cap grows
even w/ Life after Brady... we still need the GRONK
or will they make him play for his $$$ the next 2 years and then play TAG? I hope not
TFB needs a BIG pay cut if he wants GRONK
I'll get laughed ay for proposing this, but IDC get this done at end of the season.
I understand we have him CHEAP for the next 2 years... but down the road he will cost HUGE$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ if we fail to extend him ASAP. The cap will grow and his contract won't be HUGE 3-4 years in after he signs it. Does this move hurt us financially in the next 2 years (yes). IT, however will pay dividends when the CAP # GROWS Significanty
Going to have to respectfully disagree with you there. I'd be shocked if he's extended in the next year, and I have no real problem with the thought that he won't be. With the franchise tag on TEs being as low as it is, the Pats have a ton of leverage in any future contract negotiations. Eventually they'll have to pay the man, but there's no reason to do that before they have to, especially with the likes of Welker, Mayo, and Vollmer coming up.

He's that old miserable bastard NEPat, right?

Luckily we only have a few high priced guys that we'll need to pay to keep around.
However when Brady is on the back nine of his career, I want an All Pro safety blanket in Gronkowski in his prime to keep Brady happy.
Re: Gronk 3 TD's Away from Tying Tight End TD Record
While Gronk's physical skills are amazing and its fun to imagine what he can acomplish as a Pat, for me the best part of Gronk is his attitude.
Starting with his joy on stage at the draft, this kid is having a total blast.
Complete opposite from many head-case athlets.
GO PATS!! GO GRONK!!!

TE, no (obviously)
QB, Mark Sanchez had 20 passing (and 3 rushing) TDs in his first 25 games to give you an idea of the level of QB that can easily attain this performance.
WR, Randy Moss off the top of my head.
RB, not sure off the top of my head, but I would think there would be a few, specially if you throw in receiving TDs.
Edit: Sanchez: that was in his first 20 games, not 25. So ya, point remains for QBs

Clinton Portis had 29 TD's in 29 games over his first two seasons with Denver. I'm assuming at least 20 of those came in the first 25.
For a TE though, it's insanity, especially one who is also so good at blocking.
Re: Gronk 3 TD's Away from Tying Tight End TD Record
Post-merger, a total of FORTY NFL players, including GRONK, have 20 TDs in their first two seasons, according to Pro-Football-Reference.
Only FIVE have 20 receiving TDs in their first two seasons:
1. Randy Moss (MIN, 1998-99), 28 receiving TDs
2t. John Jefferson (SD, 1978-79), 23 TDs
2t. Daryl Turner (SEA, 1984-85), 23 TDs
4. Louis Lipps (PIT, 1984-85), 21 TDs 5. GRONK (NE, 2010-11), 20 TDs
